Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can’t seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a “take me home” look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker’s owner reaches out. He’s a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.

Well, Sloan’s not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can’t deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There’s no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?

“Do you want me to meet you at the cemetery, Sloan?”

The Happy Ever After Playlist was exactly what I needed. I had been searching for an adorable romance that I can not put down and brings a smile to my face and this was perfect.

I have not read Abby Jimenez’s debut novel, The Friend Zone, but I had heard mixed things about it. That made me nervous about picking up her sophomore novel, but I am so happy that I did. The main characters from her first novel, Kristen and Josh, are side characters in this story and I am now curious about their relationship. I loved how supportive they were of Sloan!

Sloan and Jason had great banter and I loved how they formed a connection over the phone and that Jason falls for her without ever knowing what she looks like. It made me think of the TV show Love is Blind on Netflix! I also appreciated that he respected her boundaries and her independence. It was refreshing! Don’t get me wrong, he does some things that I found frustrating, but I always understood motivations.

I have realized something about my reading tastes when it comes to romance. I love when one of the main characters is famous in some way. There is something about that dynamic that fascinates me!

Overall, just a sweet romance that I finished in a single sitting, which says a lot when you consider that it is 400 pages. I actually listened to the audiobook thanks to Libro.fm who sent me an ALC in exchange for an honest review.
