#bookhibearnation Readathon

It is not often that I participate in readathons, but I figured now is a better time than ever. One of my favourite booktubers Simon at SavidgeReads is hosted the bookhibearnation readation started today until tomorrow night. The goal is to read for 24 hours over the next 48 hours- that will be tough but I’ve got nothing but time on my hands at this point.

Here is the announcement video:

There are four main prompts and a few bonuses one. The odds of me finishing four books this weekend are low but I am willing to try!

A book by a favourite author

Lullabies for Little Criminals by Heather O’Neill

22207

You all know by now how much I love The Lonely Hearts Hotel by Heather O’Neill and how I often say that it is my favourite book. I have been meaning to read her backlist but part of me has been scared to? I don’t want to compare them to The Lonely Hearts Hotel and then be disappointed. That said, I think I am finally ready to tackle Lullabies for Little Criminals.

A book you’ve been saving for a rainy day

Final Girls by Riley Sager

32796253

I have had Final Girls sitting on my shelves unread for years now! I have only heard incredible things about all of Riley Sager’s work and I have had this feeling that once I read one I am going to want to read them all. I now have more than enough time to do that!

A book that is short and sweet

Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne

35259727

Can you believe I have never read Winnie the Pooh? It was my favourite cartoon growing up and I will always have a soft spot for these characters. Another prompt is “a book with a bear in it” and Winnie the Pooh is the ultimate bear! My gorgeous edition comes in at 176 pages and I am so ready for a sweet and delightful read.

A comfort read from your favourite time period

The Brideship Wife by Leslie Howard

48992813

I was lucky enough to be sent an ARC of The Brideship Wife thanks to Simon and Schuster Canada. One of my favourite time periods is The Victorian Era, so 1837-1901. This novel beings in 1862 and follows a woman’s journey from England to British Columbia. I have really been into books set in Canada lately so I am even more excited about this book! It comes out May 5th, so I will be sure to review it before then.

Bonus Prompt- A Women’s Prize 2020 longlisted book

Girl, Other, Woman by Bernadine Evaristo

41081373. sy475

I would love to tackle the entire longlist, but I very much doubt that is going to happen. I will be trying to read every book that is shortlisted though. I have a feeling that Girl, Woman, Other will be on that list. I have the ebook so if I have time (which I very much doubt) this is the book that I will turn to.

That’s it! Are you participating or do you know of any more interesting readathons coming up?

I will be updating my progress on my story over on Instagram and will write up a post on Monday to let you know how I did.
