There is nothing that distracts me more from reading than Netflix, so why not combine the two!? Full disclosure, I started doing this tag without realizing I had already done it before! If you are curious, here are my answers from 2018! It is officially here, we have gotten to the point where I am recycling book tags.
Recently watched– The last book you finished
Catch and Kill by Ronan Farrow

Wow. Ronan Farrow is incredible. I am in awe of his strength and perseverance. The fact that it took this long for Weinstein’s actions to be brought to light is a testament to Farrows strength- not everyone would have been able to rise above the amount of pressure he was put under. I will post a full review of my thoughts on Sunday but just go read this. It is so well researched and brilliantly written.
2. Top Picks– A book/ books that have been recommended to you based on books you have previously read.
Life After Life by Kate Atkinson

I love historical fiction especially if there is a time travel element. That is why Life After Life is always recommended to me! I also really enjoyed Transcription by Kate Atkinson and I am told this book is even better. I often talk about how I am not a fan of the groundhog day trope, but people always tell me that this book handles it in a unique and interesting way!
3. Recently added- The Last book you bought.
The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys

I am ashamed to admit that I have yet to read anything by Sepetys, even though I have had Salt to the Sea on my shelves for years and I know I will love her work. I found I signed edition of The Fountain of Silence and I could not resist. It is such a gorgeous book and the premise caught my attention. Will this be the first Ruta Sepetys I actually read?
4. Popular on Netflix- Books that everyone knows about ( Two you’ve read and two you have no interest in reading)
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Of course I read this and loved it. Deserves of all of the hype.
Normal People by Sally Rooney

I know that Normal People gets mixed reviews but I absolutely loved it. One of the most honest looks at romantic relationships.
Lord of the Flies by William Golding

Somehow I was never made to read Lord of the Flies in school and from what I hear I am lucky. I will read retellings all day long but I have zero interest in the original!
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

I watched the first season of the TV series and struggled with it. I just don’t think that the books would be for me. They are also really long and there are so many books in the series that I just can’t find the motivation to read them!
5. Comedies- A funny book.
The Humans by Matt Haig

I feel like I need more funny book recommendations because anytime this question comes up I either chose The Humans by Mat Haig or Calypso by David Sedaris. It is so hard for me to find a book that I actually think it funny. I loved the quirkiness of The Humans and the naivety of the main character brought me so much joy.
6. Dramas- A character who is a drama queen/ king
Everyone in Tiny Pretty Things

This is the one answers from 2018 that I just have to repeat. In these last two years I have not read characters more dramatic than those in Tiny Pretty Things. There was so much cattiness and backstabbing going on- that is what made the book so fun to read. I need to read the next book in the series one of these days.
7. Animated- A book with cartoons on the cover
Heartstopper by Alice Oseman

I will take any chance I get to talk about these graphic novels. I just adore them. The covers and the artwork are also very adorable so how I could not mention them?
8. Watch it again- A book/ book series that you want to re-read
The Lonely Hearts Hotel by Heather O’Neill

The Lonely Hearts Hotel is my favourite book and I am curious to see what it would be like to reread it. Part of me is nervous but I have faith that I would love it just as much, if not more! There is so much going on that I am sure there was a lot I missed the first time I read it.
9. Documentaries- A non-fiction book you’d recommend to everyone.
The Only Plane in the Sky by Garrett M. Graff

I talk about this all of the time, but even if you are not a nonfiction reader I think you still need to read The Only Plane in the Sky. That said, I know that it is a heavy topic and might me too much for some people. If it is something you think you can handle, I highly recommend the audiobook. I think about it constantly.
10. Action and adventure- An action packed book
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

It is kind of sad that I read so few action packed books that I struggled to come up with an answer for this one. I just tend to read slower, more character driven fiction! Even the SciFi and fantasy novels that I am drawn to are more slow paced. Six of Crows is great though and I love anything having to do with a heist!

Fun! #Neflix The Crown I watched and quit watching due to too many fictional scenes. I like this book tag though!

I enjoy The Crown but it is not as good as it used to be. I understand what you mean about the fictional scenes!

The ridiculous scene with Prince Philip’s father after his sister’s death did it for me. The idiotic one of Charles’ being fitted for Eton uniforms–oiy!

So many great books in this tag! Despite all the hype, I also could not get into Outlander (both book & TV show). I definitely want to check out The Lonely Hearts Hotel and I hope you love Ruta Sepetys’ books!

Same! There were scenes in Outlander that were too much for me and I’m not usually super sensitive like that!

I hope you love Sepetys! My fav is Salt to the Sea 😍👍
Outlander was a DNF for me….I didn’t care for the condoned violence toward women.

I need to read Salt to the Sea ASAP!
Felt the same way about Outlander. So much about the show made me uncomfortable!

This is a great idea for a book tag! I switched to Disney Plus though, haha. Loved your answers! I haven’t read these books, so this was a nice rec post for me.

OMG I loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Heartstopper was such a cute read! And of course Six Of Crows is extremely action packed! I need to read The Foutains of Silence since SO many people recommend it on BookTube. This tag is SO good! Anyway, I hope you’re having an amazing day 🙂
