Dear Santa- Five Books I Would Love to Find Under the Christmas Tree

Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm.

Is there any better gift than a book? I don’t think so! Most people do not buy me books for fear that I have already read it. I completely understand that. The people in my life are such great and thoughtful gift giver- I usually end up with a bunch of bookish items. That said, I would not be upset if I found the following five books under the tree.

The Grace Year by Kim Leggett

I have rediscovered my love for dystopian and, from what I can tell, The Grace Year has been the most popular book of the genre in 2019. It has amazing reviews on Goodreads, and let’s be honest, I just adore that cover. There seems to be a focus on female friendships, which I always appreciate in fiction.

In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado

Machado is the author of Her Body and Other Parties, one of my favourite short story collections. I was thrilled to hear that she was writing a memoir. The reviews have been spectacular- it currently has a 4.69 on Goodreads! Machado speaks of the abuse she has experienced, so I know that this is not going to be an easy read. I am always so grateful to authors who are willing to be vulnerable and share their experiences with the world.

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

Red, White & Royal Blue was one of the most talked about books of the year and I feel like I am missing out on something wonderful. I absolutely love the idea of the President’s son and the Prince falling in love. I hear there is some great banter- I can not wait!

Middlegame by Seanan McGuire

I absolutely adore McGuire’s Wayward Children series, and I am so ready to read a full length novel from her. I have been told that it is really weird and will mess with your mind- exactly my kind of book! McGuire is a beautiful writer so I get the feeling I will appreciate anything that she write.

The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary

This just sounds like the sweetest romance! I love romances that include letters in some way. This is the story of two roommates who have never met (they work opposite hours) but communicate to each other through letters. Doesn’t that just sound adorable?

  1. I loved The Flatshare! I didn’t know what to expect when I started it, but it really charmed me. And I love Seanan McGuire, always. Middlegame is a total trip!
