Wow. This book was STEAMY- much more than I was expecting, but I loved it. Chloe and Red had such amazing chemistry, which is always important for me when reading a romance.
What I really appreciated was that I felt connected to both Chloe and Red separately and as a couple. They are both well-developed and complex characters. I loved their banter, and how the story starts off as a sort of hate-to-love romance- my favourite trope!
There was a lot of amazing rep in this book and I so appreciated that Chloe’s fibromyalgia was acknowledged and part of the story, but it was not what defined her. The way that Red was so gentle with her while also realizing that she is strong and independent was so refreshing. He realized that she was no damsel in distress.
The relationship was very realistic. Often we bring insecurities and trauma from past relationships into our next one, and that was the case for both Chloe and Red. When people grow tired of dealing with her sickness they are quick to leave her, as a result she has issues with abandonment. Red had an abusive ex-partner who made him question every decision and action he makes. This leads to Chloe and Red having some conflicts, but I thought it was refreshing to see them recognize their insecurities and fight to work through them.
It was also just really romantic and made me smiling!
Very much! One of my favourite romances of the year- so realistic and sweet. I can not wait to read the sequel Take a Hint, Dani Brown, which follows Chloe’s sister.
