First Impression Friday- The Bromance Book Club

First Impression Friday is hosted by J.W. Martin.

First Impression Friday will be a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only a chapter or two in, maybe a little farther.

Based on this sampling of your current read, give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end.

The first rule of book club:
You don’t talk about book club.Nashville Legends second baseman Gavin Scott’s marriage is in major league trouble. He’s recently discovered a humiliating secret: his wife Thea has always faked the Big O. When he loses his cool at the revelation, it’s the final straw on their already strained relationship. Thea asks for a divorce, and Gavin realizes he’s let his pride and fear get the better of him.

Welcome to the Bromance Book Club.

Distraught and desperate, Gavin finds help from an unlikely source: a secret romance book club made up of Nashville’s top alpha men. With the help of their current read, a steamy Regency titled Courting the Countess, the guys coach Gavin on saving his marriage. But it’ll take a lot more than flowery words and grand gestures for this hapless Romeo to find his inner hero and win back the trust of his wife.

I just started an eARC of The Bromance Book Club, which will be published on November 5th.

I have been reading a lot of Fallish books lately and found myself in the mood for something light and cheesy. The Bromance Book Club is just that. This is one of those books that you can not take too seriously. I love the premise! The thought of a group of professional athletes getting together to read and discuss romance novels brings me so much joy. I have a feeling that this is going to lead to some great character development. Also, I just love a good bromance!

I like that the story is told from different narrators, but I would say that the main character is a man. That is so refreshing because it is not a perspective that I find often in a contemporary romance. I am always a big fan of second chance romance so I am ready for all of the feels. I also love that chapters from the romance the men are reading are included. It’s a nice touch!

I am only 20% into it so far, but I am not sure how I feel about the writing. There is something about Adams’s writing style that can be distracting at times. I can’t quite put my finger on it.

I do not think The Bromance Book Club will be a five star read, but it is shaping up to be the exact book that I need to read at the moment. It is light and feel good, but also seems to have some depth.

Have you ever read a romance with a male main character?
