Past, Present, and Future Tag

I found this fun tag on Wonderfilled Reads! It is a simple tag, but it is interesting to see the books that everyone chooses for the past, the present and the future!

RULES

  • Find a book published 10+ years ago.
  • Find a book that will be published THIS year.
  • Find a book that will be published NEXT year.

PAST

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

40440

Publication date: September 12, 2006

Although The Thirteenth Tale was published almost 13 years ago, I personally read it in 2014- it feels like just yesterday! This is a story that has stayed with me all of these years and one that I should talk about more often. I mean, doesn’t the cover alone intrigued?! The story itself is even better! It is gothic, historical fiction with a mystery element- that is right in my wheelhouse. I really should reread it sometime in the near future.

PRESENT

City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert

42135029

Publication date: June 4th, 2019

I have to go with City of Girls because I read it last weekend and it is still on my mind. It is rare that I say this about a book that is almost 500 pages, but I wish it were even longer. I was not ready to leave this world, or Vivian (our main character) behind. I want Vivian to be my best friend. I love that she is so honest about not only her past, but about her needs- she does not apologize for who she is. In that way, she reminds me of Evelyn Hugo. I was truly sad to have to say goodbye to her. I will be posting a full review with more of my thoughts on Sunday!

FUTURE

Harley in the Sky by Akemi Dawn Bowman

38326343. sy475

Publication date: March 10th, 2020

Bowman’s debut novel, Starfish, is one of my favourite YA novels of all time. I talk about it on this blog whenever I get the chance- it is just that good! I still have to read her sophomore novel, Summer Blue Bird, but I was so thrilled to see that she has another book coming out in March of 2020.  It sounds so incredible and like nothing I have ever read before. Our main character, Harley, is an aspiring trapeze artist whose parents run a circus in Las Vegas. Do you really need to know anything other than that?!

I tag everyone to do this, especially MATfiction! I would be so curious to see the books that you come up with. I also want to start adding 2020 books to my TBR! Which 2020 book are you most excited for?kkbLogo

  1. Ooh this is a cool tag! Makes me realize that I have no idea what books are coming out in 2020, haha. That Dawn Bowman book looks so awesome though, for some reason I cannot resist books about circuses. I will keep an eye out for that one!

  2. City of Girls must be interesting! I’m not sure I’ll ever get a chance to read it since the waiting list at work is so longggg. I order for our Large Print collection and I often order the best-sellers to supplement the Regular Fiction collection and I just had to put in an order for another copy since the waiting list grew since last week LOL.

  3. You had me put the 13th tale on my TBR a bit back. I need to Prioritize that list. It has gotten out of hand and now that I saw it again I remember why I really wanted to read it… back to Goodreada. The founder of that site must be a billionaire.

      1. 🙂 Was there a life before Goodreads? I had an account on there even before blogging. Although it was pathetically filled with all the nonfiction education books.
