Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate
I am about 150 pages in to Before We Were Yours and I am really enjoying it so far. I am enjoying the alternative timelines, and it is one of those books that has reminded me why I always say that historical fiction is my favourite genre. I have a feeling this is a book that will absolutely break my heart, especially knowing that this is something that happened to real children, real families. I am going to be lending it to my neighbour as soon as I am finished because I know she is going to love it and I will need someone to discuss it with!
My Friend Anna: The True Story of a Fake Heiress by Rachel DeLoache Williams
I have come to the realization that I absolutely adore nonviolent true crime. There are not a lot of books that fit in to this niche. so I was thrilled to see that My Friend Anna recently released. It is an intriguing story so far and I can not believe that this is the first time I am hearing about this case. It is frightening to think that people like Anna are out there and are willing to manipulate people in this way. I am looking forward to diving deeper in to Rachel’s story, and I foresee some googling about the case in my future!
Just Finished-
Ask Again, Yes by Mary Beth Keane
Ask Again, Yes has been everywhere lately, and for good reason. There are so many layers to this story and I know that it is one that will stay with me. This is more than just a family drama- it is a realistic look at mental health, addiction, abandonment, familial relationships, and more. I was so invested in this story and felt as though I knew these characters. I was actively rooted them on- I was happy when they were happy and was hurting when they were hurt. It is not every author that is able to evoke such emotion in the read. I can not wait to see what Mary Beth Keane writes next!
City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert
I recently featured this novel in a First Impression Friday saying that I believed it would end up being a five star read, and I was absolutely right! There is so much about City of Girls that is memorable and it deserves all of the hype that it has been getting. Do not be surprised if you see me talk about it often on this blog because it is one I think many readers will enjoy. I adored the New York setting, the bluntness of our main character, and the eccentricities of all of the characters that we are introduced to throughout the story. I was also delighted to see that we followed our main character, Vivian, through many years of her life. I will be posting a full review with more of my thoughts on Sunday!

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
I am finally going to do it! It is about time I sat down and read Where the Crawdads Sing. I have had so many people recommend this book to me and I just know it is going to end up being a favourite. I think maybe that is why I have been saving it? Which is just ridiculous and I need to pick it up already!
It has been awhile since I have done a WWW Wednesday. Since there was no topic for Top Five Tuesday yesterday, I thought it might be fun to bring this meme back! I forgot how much I enjoyed reflecting on my reads as I am reading them, so expect these to pop up again every once in awhile.
If you know of any nonviolent true crime novels I would love recommendations!

I loved Before We Were Yours. She’s coming out with another book in October which is filled with real life stories of children who were in the Tennessee Children’s Home Society!

I saw My Friend Anna at my library and was really intrigued by the cover. I think I definitely need to add it to my reading list now. I have been wanting to read Where the Crawdads Sing for so long now. I am hoping to get the audiobook from my library soonish. I’ve been on hold forever now, haha.

Ask Again, Yes has been everywhere, and it sounds like it is well-deserved. I have a feeling, I would love it as well. I am less convinced about Where the Crawdads Sing; the reviews have been amazing, but not sure it is my type of book.
