Book Blogging Firsts Tag

I found this tag on Lauren’s blog Twenty-Seven Letters. I thought it was a great opportunity to reflect on my last two years of blogging and to remember where it all began.

First blog name and design?

My blog has always been Kristin Kraves Books. I didn’t put too much thought in to it when I chose it but I think it works and I can not see myself changing it at this point!

My first design was pretty simple and just consisted of free graphics from Canva. I did settle on this coppery theme pretty early on and had someone from Etsy help me create the banner! I still love it!

First blog post? First book review?

I decided to combine these two questions because my first blog post was my first book review!  I had just read Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon and from what I could see I had an unpopular opinion about it that I needed to share. Looking back on it I could have said more, but it was my first post and I was being cautious. I also included a picture of my cat with the book… I should start doing that again!

First meme participated in?

I was surprised to see that the first meme I participated in was the Friday 56! What I was not surprised to see was the book that I chose was Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel. I still absolutely LOVE that series. From what I can tell, this is the only time I posted a Friday 56, and I think that is because I kept finding more and more memes and I didn’t want my blog to be saturated with them. It is something I would consider doing every once in awhile though, maybe alternating with First Impression Friday? We will see!

First discussion post?

Apparently I called my discussion posts ‘book babbles’ back then! I completely forgot about that! My first one was about Quantity vs. Quality reading. I talk about the steps that I planned to take in order to improve the quality of my reading… I am starting to think that I need to take my own advice!

First book blog I followed?

I was not sure the answer to this questions so I went backed and looked at the sites that I follow and it seems as though the first blog I followed was Swetlana’s blog The Caffeinated Bookworm. I continue to adore her and her blog!

First follower?

My first follower was the blog FMN. I distinctly remember that feeling when I saw that I had a follower. Thank you FMN for giving me that moment, and for continuing to post interesting content!

First book I read because of other bloggers?

Before I started blogging I watched a lot of booktube, and that is where I received most of my recommendations. It has all blended together at this point and I can’t remember the first book that I read because of other bloggers. That have been so many over the years, but if I had to guess from looking back on my reviews, it would probably be The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo- which is so amazing and a perfect recommendation!

I am so glad that I decided to do this tag! I am inspired to try to bring back some of what I was going back then while also recognizing how much I have grown and how much this blog has changed. I tag anyone who has a blog to do this tag- I would love to see your answers!
