First Impression Friday- Recursion

Recursion by Blake Crouch

I have been waiting for Blake Crouch to release a new novel ever since I read and loved Dark Matter.  I am only 10% in to the eARC of Recursion, but I am getting MAJOR Dark Matter vibes and it is making me so happy. I know that a lot of you will be thrilled to hear that as well!

The idea behind this novel is very intriguing and the first few chapters grabs your attention right away. We follow two characters, Barry and Helena, who are both connected to a mysterious illness, referred to as False Memory Syndrome, where those inflicted have memories of another life that never happened. It is interesting to see how both of the main characters are invested in this illness in different ways and for different reasons.  We are already given some of the characters’ background story, which I always appreciate!

The pacing of Recursion is spot on and I have a feeling that you will be seeing a review from me very soon because I will not want to put this book down once I really have the time to get in to it. It is already the perfect balance between character-driven and action-driven, which can be difficult to pull off.

If the rest of the novel continues in the same vein as the first 10% than Recursion will become a five star novel and a new favourite SciFi! I am hopeful!
