Currently Reading-

The Greatest Love Story Ever Told By Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman

I am currently reading physical copy of this book and I am enjoying it so much that I am also considering listening to the audiobook when I am finished! I adore these two as comedians and as a couple and their banter puts a smile on my face.  It is a really refreshing book and I highly recommend it if you need something to pull you out of a bad mood!

Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett

I have an eARC of Serious Moonlight and I am about 30% in to it! It seems to be taking me forever! The story is cute, but not much is happening.  I think 432 pages is a bit too long for a YA contemporary romance.  I have been wanting to read Jenn Bennett for ages so I am definitely going to keep going with it to see if I start to connect to it more!

Just Finished-

Love Her Wild by Atticus

I thought there was some really moving and romantic poems in this collection, but then there were others that I did not connect with or thought had some problems.  There was one particular poem- about how brushing a girl’s hair behind her ear will solve more problems than therapists and drugs- that how found to be questionable.  That is where they lost me!

Heavy: An American Memoir by Kiese Laymon

Heavy was my first memoir of the year, and what a way to start! Kiese Laymon holds nothing back and bares his soul in this memoir that is essentially a letter to his mother.  He shares what it is like growing up overweight, black, and in a violent household.  This is a difficult book to review because, as a white woman, it was not written for me, but it should be read by people like me. I will just leave it at that.

Bitter Orange by Clare Fuller

Clare Fuller is quickly becoming my favourite author.  I have now rated both of her books five stars on Goodreads.  Her books are so atmospheric and descriptive that you have this feeling of heaviness the entire time you are reading them.  Bitter Orange is very much character driven and there is an air of mystery throughout.  There was actually a few twists that I did not see coming, even though all the signs were there.  I thought it was brilliant, even though I know it won’t be for everyone.

The Feather Thief by Kirk Wallace Johnson

I am not currently listening to an audiobook, so I think I am going to start The Feather Thief.  I am participating in the Book Riot challenge and one of the prompts is nonviolent true crime.  The Feather Thief comes highly recommended! It is about a man who steals birds from The British Museum of Natural History in order to sell their feathers for fly-fishing? Sounds like an interesting story!
