WWW Wednesday (1)

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading-

Little Shop of Found Things by Paula Brackston

31450585

I am just getting in to The Little Shop of Found Things but I am charmed by it already.  I love the idea of antiques holding the souls of the dead.  I have a really great feeling about this one!

Coming Clean by Kimberley Rae Miller

16218778

Does anyone else love Book Riot as much as I do? I signed up for TBR, their book recommendation service, which is $15 every three months and a bibliologist recommends you three books based on your answers to their questionnaire and your Goodreads.  My bibliologist is Liberty (who I ADORE!!) and she recommended Coming Clean to me.  It is a memoir and the author grew up with a father who was a hoarder and a mother who had a shopping addiction.  It is very interesting so far and I love her honesty!

Just Finished-

The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker

37969723

You can find my full review of The Silence of the Girls here! To sum up,  I really appreciate seeing the story of Achilles from a new perspective and it was eye-opening for me.  The writing was also beautiful.  I highly recommend this one!

Well-Read Black Girl by Glory Edim

38255372

Well-Read Black Girl has become one of my favourite anthologies.  It is always interesting to read about other people’s reading experiences and why they love books.  A lot of authors that I love contributed to this collection including Jesmyn Ward and Tarayi Jones. Gabourey Sidibie also contributed to the anthology and it was fantastic! This book was a great reminder of the power of reading and how it can give a voice to people who deserve to be heard. If you have not heard of Well-Read Black Girl, I would recommend checking out their website.  Here is a link to their reading list, which is fantastic!

Nine Perfect Stranger by Liane Moriarty

39280445

I am feeling a little bit slumpish, which always happens this time of year.  Between my courses and the holidays, I have not had as much time to dedicate to reading as I would have liked.  When I need a book that I just can not put down, I always turn to Liane Moriarty.  I can not wait to read her new book!

Have you read any of these books? What did you think?

  1. Glad you loved the Silence of the Girls. The writing really is incredible isn’t it. I did think the start was stronger than the end but it’s definitely worth reading.

I’m really liking the sound of TBR but given the amount of books already on my TBR I think it would be a very bad idea for me 🙂

  2. Well-Read Black Girls sounds wonderful! I love reading books about books and it doesn’t hurt that the cover is so pretty. The Silence of the Girls sounds very interesting too!

  3. I’m hoping to crack open Nine Perfect Strangers, in the next week or so. I have never heard of that service from Book Riot but that sounds amazing! I’ll have to check it out.

  4. I haven’t read any of the books you mentioned but I am a fan of Liane Moriarty after reading Big Little Lies. I bought a few of her books after I read that but haven’t gotten around to reading them yet, LoL.

I just over the summer finished reading You and just recently finished reading its sequel by Caroline Kepnes. Great reads and the TV Series adaptation was perfectly done.

Currently reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. Read the 1st 20 pages so far and it’s really good so far.

    1. Her books are quick reads! I like to read them when I need something that I know I can breeze through!

I loved You but I have yet to watch the show! I have only heard great things about it though.

I love To All the Boys! Have you watched the movie? It is really cute!

      1. I definitely want to read more of her books hopefully within the next year. Have a recommendation of which one to read next?

The Lifetime series adaptation of You was simply perfectly done. There were some changes, but it still worked for the show. Definite recommend!

I’m only about 60 pages into the book so far. Really good from what I’ve read to this point. I like to read the books before watching the adaptation, so I didn’t watch the movie yet. But definitely going to after I finish reading the book!

      2. Definitely Big Little Lies and then watch the miniseries. I also really enjoyed The Husbands Secret!

The movies really cute but I’m a glad you are reading the book first. There are so many little details I love that aren’t in the movie!

      3. That’s the only book of her’s I actually read so far. Big Little Lies the book was so good and the HBO series was amazing! It was by far my favorite series of 2017, for sure. Can’t wait for season 2!
I actually have already The Husband’s Secret, LoL, I’ll probably start with that one first.

Awesome! Yeah, the book is so good! That’s why I usually read and than watch, LoL.

      4. Wow, it must be really good then! Now I definitely can’t wait to read it. I am usually so indecisive when deciding on what to read next, but I think The Husband’s Secret is what I might read next. But who knows I always end up changing my mind, but I really think that I might read that next. Too be continued…. LoL.
