Books I Recently Added to My TBR

Books onMy TBR

I have written posts like this twice in the past and you can find them herehere and here. I am constantly added books to my TBR and I thought it might be interesting to talk about why I want to read them. I also get a secret joy out of adding more books to your TBR’s!

The Mere Wife by Maria Dahvana Headly

36332136

I will admit that the first thing that grabbed my attention about The Mere Wife was this cover.  It is just so cool! The Mere Wife is a Beowulf retelling and is classified as speculative fiction, which is a genre I am falling even more and more in love with.  It has amazing reviews on Goodreads and I am surprised to see that none of my Goodreads friends have read it.  I am so looking for to it!

With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevado

38739562

I listened to the audiobook of The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo last year and adored it!  I will now read anything that she writes.  When I saw this cover I literally squealed.  It is so beautiful.  I can not believe that I have to wait until May to read it.

North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell

14800526

If you have been reading my blog the last few weeks you may understand why I adding North and South to my TBR.  I recently read The Victorian and the Romantic in which the author takes about the life of Elizabeth Gaskell.  She is such an interesting woman and all of her books sound amazing.  I can not believe I have not read anything by her before!

The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker

37969723

This book has been everywhere lately! The cover is beautiful and it is Greek Mythology retelling, which I and everyone else have been really in to lately.  Many of my bookish friends have read it and loved it.  I need to make it a priority!

Meg, Jo, Beth, Amy: The Story of Little Women and Why It Matters by Anne Boyd Rioux

36236099

Does anyone else love Little Women as much as I do? When I saw this book I instantly knew that I had to read it.  I adore Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy and I am excited to read why Anny Boyd Rioux believes they still matter.

Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney

32187419

I have gone back and forth on whether or not I wanted to read Conversation with Friends because I have heard mixed things about it.  What finally sold me on it was Simon from Savidge Reads raving about how great it is, and he was just as reluctant about it as I was.

  1. I also love the cover for With the Fire on High, so I’l definitley be adding that one to my TBR. North and South is wonderful, it’s one of my all time favorite classics, I hope you enjoy reading it! 😊

  2. I almost picked up the Mere Wife at the library today. i would have if I’d seen the cover, but I only saw the cover on the spine and the title was enough to make me pick it up. If I see if on my next visit, I’ll get it. Beowulf retelling sounds interesting.

  3. Oh my god the With The Fire on High’s cover looks ABSOLUTELY STUNNING, I love it – and it sounds great! I need to add that one to my TBR. Thank you for sharing these Kristin 😀
