What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading-

Transcription by Kate Atkinson

39902707

I am slowly making my way though Transcription because I am trying to savour it.  This is my first Kate Atkinson novel and I know I will be reading her other novels in the future.  She is a brilliant writer and this book reminds me why I love WWII novels so much.  This is an original book and an interesting look at the war.

You by Caroline Kepnes

20821614

I am listening to You on audiobook and it is really getting under my skin! It is so creepy!!! The narrator is fantastic and this is a great book to read in October.  I am really looking forward to watching the TV series when I am finished with it.

Just Finished-

40801157

I have seen some mixed reviews for The Miseducation of Cameron Post but I really loved it.  The first half was slow and probably too long, but I appreciated having the opportunity to really get to know Cameron.  The second half of the novel is fantastic and I adored the ending.

Reading Next

An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green

24233708

I am curious to see what how Hank Green writes and I am going in to it with an open mind.  I do not want to compare him to his brother.  The plot for this one sounds really different and like something I will enjoy. It actually sounds a bit like Sleeping Giants, and you know how much I love that book!

Small Spaces by Kathrine Arden

36959639

I have been hearing amazing things about Small Spaces lately and I already know that I adore Katherine Arden’s writing! I think the cover is really fun and a little spooky.  It seems like another great October book.  I really want to read spooky and creepy books this month!

Have you read any of these books? What did you think?

Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada for sending me a copy of  Transcription and An Absolutely Remarkable Thing in exchange for an honest review.

  1. I seem to be hearing about Transcription everywhere recently. I used to read a lot of Atkinsons books but stopped for some reason. I did always like her writing.

I’m afraid I’m one of those who didn’t love Cameron Post and while I kind of liked the 2nd half I hated the ending. I wanted to know what happened next.

    1. I am interesting in picking up some of Kate Atkinsons backlist! Do you have a favourite?

I can completely understand why Cameron Post doesn’t work for some people, and normally I do not get along with ambiguous endings like that. There was just something about it that affected me!

      1. It’s been a long time (10+yrs) but I do remember enjoying her Jackson Brody series. Case Histories might be the first one.

I did like the writing in Cameron Post but unfortunately I never connected to the story. I think it’s probably just one of those books you either get or you don’t. I’d still recommend it and am looking forward to the film. I think it’ll be great as a film.

  2. So glad you are enjoying You, the audio version. I loved it!! I am currently listening to the next one, Hidden Bodies, and it is every bit as creepy as the first!

  3. Small Spaces was a lot of fun. I really liked the kids and Ollie just wants to read and be left alone. I related so much 🙂 Probably not cool if you fear scarecrows though!
