WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently Reading-
The Dinner List by Rebecca Serle
I am in the mood for a light and fun contemporary romance and The Dinner List is perfect for that. There is also an element of magical realism that I think is really interesting. I love the idea of walking in to a dinner and realizing that the guests are the people you mentioned when asked the question “Who are the five people living or dead you would want to have dinner with?” It is short and I am enjoying it so far!
Just Finished-
The Oyster Thief by Sonia Faruqi
I am part of the blog tour for this book so I am going to save most of my thoughts for that but I will say there was so much that I enjoyed about this story. It scratched that mermaid itch that I was having and it didn’t do it in a cliche way!
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
This book was so heartbreaking and I absolutely loved it. I could cry just thinking about it. If you are like me and have been putting off reading A Monster Calls, do yourself a favour and pick it up… but have a box of tissues ready!
The Victorian and the Romantic by Nell Stevens
I need to read more memoirs like this one. It was so honest and relatable. I admire the fact that Nell Stevens shared all of her emotions, even if there were times that I was embarrassed for her. She also made me fall in love with Elizabeth Gaskell and I have already bought North and South. I can’t wait to read it!
Reading Next–
Transcription by Kate Atkinson
I can not believe I have never read anything by Kate Atkinson! Well, that is about to change and I am really excited! The cover and synopsis make Transcription seem like the perfect book for fall. I can not wait to see what I think about it and about Kate Atkinson’s writing.
Have you read any of these books? What did you think?
Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada for sending me a copy of The Oyster Thief and The Victorian and the Romantic in exchange for an honest review.
