Currently Reading-

Women Talking by Miriam Toews

39172103

Wow! Women Talking is exceptional so far! The book is based on a true story about assaults that took place on the women in a Mennonite community.  The story is utterly heartbreaking and it is interesting to see how each of the women deal with the trauma of what they all have been through.  I am completely blown away by Miriam Toews writing so far, and I have a feeling this will be a book you will see mentioned often on my blog from now on!

The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row by Anthony Ray Hinton

34964905

The Sun Does Shine is a non-fiction novel written by Anthony Ray Hinton, who is a black man from Alabama who was on death row for nearly thirty years for a crime he did not commit.  I am not far in to this one yet, but it has already made me so angry at the injustice.  It is a book a have to read in small doses because I just get so worked up about how corrupt the legal system is.  I am also very inspired by Anthony Ray Hinton because he has ever right to be very bitter and angry, but instead he is inspiring.  He even started a book club in death row.  I am excited to learn more of his story and his release, and I will definitely being watching clips of him on Youtube when I am done!

Just Finished-

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

I finally read Sharp Objects! I was not sure that I was ever going to get around to reading this one, but there has been so much hype around the TV show.  I want to watch it, but you know I had to actually read the book first.  I thought it was well-written and the characters were definitely disturbing, but overall, I found it to be too predictable! I like my thrillers.mysteries to have a few more jaw-dropping moments.

The Victorian and the Romantic by Nell Stevens

I have been loving memoirs this year, and The Victorian and the Romantic sounds perfect for me! I love the book follows two romances, one that took place in the 19th century, and the other that happens in the present day.  I have heard some great things about it and I have a feeling I am going to be charmed but it!
