Currently Reading-

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

I am finally getting around to reading one of the books that it seems everyone else has read! It has been on my radar for awhile, but once I heard it was going to be made in to a miniseries produced by Reese Witherspoon I knew I had to pick it up. I will admit that I have been putting it off because I have read Celeste Ng’s other novel, Everything I Never Told You, and I had mixed feelings about it. That said, I am only a few chapters in to Little Fires Everywhere and I am really enjoying it so far! The writing is incredible and I am definitely intrigued by the story.

A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers

I posted a First Impressions Friday about this book last week, and I have not had a lot of time to read it since then! From what I have read I still really love it and I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting cast of characters. I can not wait to fall in love with them all!

Just Finished-

One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I have conflicting feelings about this book and I can not quite put my finger on why that is. I read it in one day and absolutely love her writing, but I just think that the overall plot was not for me. I did not agree with some of the choices the main character made and I thought that the issue was solved much too quickly and neatly. I also dislike when there is a love triangle and one of the love interests is absolutely perfect while the other can be kind of a jerk! Obviously the reader will be rooting for the perfect one and it seems a little emotionally manipulative! This book was not bad by any means and I am looking forward to reading more from her since I absolutely adore The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo!

Boy Erased by Garrard Conley

I am so thankful to Garrard Conley for sharing his story and he does so in a way that is so honest and eloquently written. It was an emotional memoir and there were so many moments that made me unbelievable angry. I found the epilogue especially powerful and it truly emphasizes the impact that these ex gay programs had and continue to have on people. I am excited to see the movie as well!

The Invention of Nature: Alexander Von Humbolt’s New World by Andrea Wulf

This is not a book that I would normally pick up, but someone recommended it to me after I read and loved Lab Girl by Hope Jahren. I was not expecting to be completely blown away! Alexander Von Humboldt is someone who history has forgotten about and that is such a shame. He was an incredible man with very forward thinking ideas that truly shaped our society. He predicted climate change based on human activity, he believed the the correlation between poetry and nature, and he was a huge influence on many well known writer and scientists, including Charles Darwin! This book was written in a way that was never boring and I was riveted by it! I also want to make a point of saying that this book is incredibly well-researched.

Scythe by Neal Shusterman

This is finally happening and I am so excited about it! I have a feeling that I am going to absolutely love this book and will want to pick up the sequel right away!
