I have decided to start doing monthly non-bookish favourites. I think it is fun to talk about things other than books on this blog every once in awhile, and I figured this was a great way to do it! I will talk about all of the movies, TV shows, music, food, etc I loved during the month.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
I am ashamed to admit that I didn’t watch Jurassic Park until I was an adult, so I think some of the magic and nostalgia of these movies might be lost on me. That being said, I still really enjoyed it! I was not expecting it to be so emotional, and I can not wait for the next movie because it is going to be interesting that is for sure.
Set It Up (Netflix Original)
This is everything that I want and love in a RomCom! It is cheesy and adorable! There is a set up (obviously), a kiss cam at a baseball game, hilarious references, and so many sweet moments that left me with a silly grin on my face. I also thought the acting was great and Lucy Liu killed it. The main character, Harper, was quirky and completely relatable!
Book Club
I saw Book Club with my friends and our mothers, and it was the perfect movie for that! We all thought it was hilarious! It is about four older women who have had a book club for 40 years and they read 50 Shades of Grey, which leads to a whole bunch of hilarity! I love all of these actresses, especially Diane Keaton and Jane Fonda.
Shetland
Another British crime show? Yes indeed!! Shetland might actually be my favourite of all of the similar shows that I have talked about in the past. It is definitely up there with Broadchurch. I just love every character and the stories are interesting with a lot of twists and turns. The show is based on a series of book written by Ann Cleeves that I might just have to read. Has anyone read them?
Queer Eye
I used to love Queer Eye for the Straight Guy so when they brought the show back last year I was so excited! I thought it was amazing and I love all of the boys! Season two was released on Netflix this month and it was even better than season one. There were so many sweet and endearing moments, and I felt myself tearing up in pretty much every episode. I appreciate that they are not only giving makeovers but they are also bringing awareness and learning and growing as people themselves.
Greek Turkey Burgers
I am so happy that it is summer and that means it is BBQ season! I am not big red meat eater, so I prefer turkey burgers. This has become my go to recipe and everyone I have made them for has also really loved them! It is turkey, onion, spinach, and feta. SO delicious! They also freeze really well.
Makeup Organizer
My parents gave me this makeup organizer as a birthday and it has been a complete game changer. I have always struggled with the best way to organize my makeup and this has worked perfectly. It is so nice to have my makeup in one place and knowing exactly where everything is.
Jane Austen Candle
My brother and his girlfriend gave me this Jane Austen candle for my birthday! It is beautiful and smells like fresh flowers! They know me so well, or at least his girlfriend does, because let’s be honest she picked this out! She also reads my blog sometimes so Hi Roxey!!
Sephora Lip Tint
This was another gift from my brother and his girlfriend. I have worn it every single day since they gave it to me and I love it. The colour stays all day and it gives you that look like you just ate a Popsicle!
I would love to know your opinions on any of my favourites this month! What did you love in June?
