June Non-Bookish Favourites

Non-BookishFavourites of 2017 (1)

I have decided to start doing monthly non-bookish favourites. I think it is fun to talk about things other than books on this blog every once in awhile, and I figured this was a great way to do it! I will talk about all of the movies, TV shows, music, food, etc I loved during the month.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

I am ashamed to admit that I didn’t watch Jurassic Park until I was an adult, so I think some of the magic and nostalgia of these movies might be lost on me. That being said, I still really enjoyed it! I was not expecting it to be so emotional, and I can not wait for the next movie because it is going to be interesting that is for sure.

Set It Up (Netflix Original)

This is everything that I want and love in a RomCom! It is cheesy and adorable! There is a set up (obviously), a kiss cam at a baseball game, hilarious references, and so many sweet moments that left me with a silly grin on my face. I also thought the acting was great and Lucy Liu killed it. The main character, Harper, was quirky and completely relatable!

Book Club

I saw Book Club with my friends and our mothers, and it was the perfect movie for that! We all thought it was hilarious! It is about four older women who have had a book club for 40 years and they read 50 Shades of Grey, which leads to a whole bunch of hilarity! I love all of these actresses, especially Diane Keaton and Jane Fonda.

Shetland

Another British crime show? Yes indeed!! Shetland might actually be my favourite of all of the similar shows that I have talked about in the past. It is definitely up there with Broadchurch. I just love every character and the stories are interesting with a lot of twists and turns. The show is based on a series of book written by Ann Cleeves that I might just have to read. Has anyone read them?

Queer Eye

I used to love Queer Eye for the Straight Guy so when they brought the show back last year I was so excited! I thought it was amazing and I love all of the boys! Season two was released on Netflix this month and it was even better than season one. There were so many sweet and endearing moments, and I felt myself tearing up in pretty much every episode. I appreciate that they are not only giving makeovers but they are also bringing awareness and learning and growing as people themselves.

Greek Turkey Burgers

I am so happy that it is summer and that means it is BBQ season! I am not big red meat eater, so I prefer turkey burgers. This has become my go to recipe and everyone I have made them for has also really loved them! It is turkey, onion, spinach, and feta. SO delicious! They also freeze really well.

Makeup Organizer

My parents gave me this makeup organizer as a birthday and it has been a complete game changer. I have always struggled with the best way to organize my makeup and this has worked perfectly. It is so nice to have my makeup in one place and knowing exactly where everything is.

Jane Austen Candle

Library Candle - Jane Austen

My brother and his girlfriend gave me this Jane Austen candle for my birthday! It is beautiful and smells like fresh flowers! They know me so well, or at least his girlfriend does, because let’s be honest she picked this out! She also reads my blog sometimes so Hi Roxey!!

This was another gift from my brother and his girlfriend. I have worn it every single day since they gave it to me and I love it. The colour stays all day and it gives you that look like you just ate a Popsicle!

  1. I love this post! So much to check out. I’ve been wondering about Bookclub and wasn’t sure if it would be good or not. I’ll definitely try it because I love Diane Keaton so much. I especially loved Jane Fonda in Monster In Law. Fave!

<3 The makeup organizer is so neat! I love that it's clear. I have to check that out. I admit I have the same issues with organization lol. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

  2. I never looked into what set it up actually was about, now I need to see it! It sounds adorable! Book club was hilarious. I LOVED Richard Dreyfus. He’s such a sweetheart! 😍💖

  3. I caught Jurassic World (the first one) on TV the other night and it was actually amazing. It’s not my kind of movie at all so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I would consider seeing Fallen Kingdom, though I’m not sure how much longer they can keep this Jurassic Park thing running and still have it be good!

  4. I always look forward to your Non-Bookish favorites! I’ve heard really awesome things about Set It Up and Queer Eye. I really need to step up my Netflix watching but sharing it with my brother and his gf isn’t the easiest 😂

  5. I watched Set It Up on Netflix the other day and thought it was very sweet. It was cheesy but I loved it. I may actually re-watch it as it was a perfect, ‘let’s just relax and laugh’ movie. 🙂

Both Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Book Club are on my radar, hoping to see both of them soon. 🙂

And yum to that turkey burger! I’m thinking about making some tonight as well. I want to try turkey and avocado mix, never tried it before so fingers crossed. 🙂

    1. Set It UP was cheesy but in the best way possible! I could see myself rewatching it as well. It is the perfect movie to watch when you need a pick me up.

Yum! I love avocado! You’ll have to let me know how it turns out!

      1. I agree, it’s a perfect pick me up movie. So cute.

It turned up alright! Turkey, mashed up avocado, egg, parsley, garlic, onion and salt & pepper. Yum! I’ll start eating cheese again next month and am looking forward to trying yours soon. Thanks for the inspiration. ❤️

  6. I HAD to feature Set It Up as one of my favourite things of the month as well because that movie was EVERYTHING! I mean, I knew I had been craving more lighthearted movies and especially RomComs again, but I only knew how much when that movie released and was all perfection.
    AND YAAAS! QUEER EYE!!!

  7. Oh man, the burger’s making me hungry now. Sigh. Oh and I have the same feelings for Jurrasic World. This movie felt more like the prologue to the next one, which is going to be brilliant with the dinosaurs out in the world.
