WWW Wednesday (1)

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading-

Circe by Madeline Miller

I am still reading Circe! I have not picked it up in a few days, and that is not because I wasn’t enjoying it (I am loving it!), but I felt a reading slump coming on and decided to take a break from reading physical books. I think the break was helpful and I am excited to pick this book up again. I have seen so many amazing reviews for it this week!

I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh

I borrowed the audiobook of I Let You Go from my library and I am not too far in to it. I have heard amazing things about this book and am excited to dive in to it. I have never listened to a thriller/mystery on audio before and I think it will be a fun experience!

Just Finished-

The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton

I listened to the audiobook of The Belles and I enjoyed it. It wasn’t anything groundbreaking or original but it was fun to listen to. The world building was pretty good, and the magic was interesting but I was not a huge fan of the main character. I wish she had a little more depth! I will probably continue on with the series because I need to see what happens next!

Saga Volume One & Two byBrian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

I have officially read my first graphic novel and I loved it! So many people have said that if you are in a reading slump to pick up a graphic novel and that really worked for me. Saga was definitely not at all what I was expecting! It was so weird but so good! I can not even begin to describe it to you. It is definitely not for everyone! It is graphic but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One by Amanda Lovelace

I was really trying everything to not fall in to a slump so I decided to pick up my first poetry collection! I saw this on Hoopla so decided to give it a try. I thought it was powerful and I really liked what she had to say. There were a couple of points where I thought went a bit too far but I understand that these poems comes from a place of anger and being fed up! I will have to try her first collection soon!

The Giver by Lois Lowry

Since I started this blog almost a year ago, I have been talking about wanting to read The Giver! It is a book that so many people have read and the reviews seemed to be very mixed. I saw it was available as an audiobook so I finally decided to just give it a try, and I am happy that I did! I really loved it and thought it was an interesting story. I wish I read it when I was younger! Is the rest of the series worth reading?

Reading Next

I am posting my Try a Chapter Tag tomorrow! So I will talk about the physical book that I will be reading after Circe in that post!

Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil Degrasse Tyson

I am hoping to listen to this audiobook once I am finished I Let You Go! It is a quick audiobook and narrated by Neil Degrasse Tyson himself. I am not very science minded but I am obviously curious about the universe! I am hoping this book ‘dumbs’ it down for me in a way I will connect with.

As you can see it has been a really interesting week of reading for me! I have only listened to two audiobooks before this, yet I listened to two of them this week! Have you read any of these books? What did you think?

  1. I can’t wait to finally start on Circe, and I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying it! I actually found The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One a bit disappointing myself, and preferred the first book. Astrophysics for People in a Hurry is such a great book, though (which I’ve yet to finish). I hope you enjoy it! <3

  2. I LOVED Circe!!! I actually recently won a publisher prize and am excited to receive a signed copy with an enamel pin I think. Sadly, it got lost in the mail… but I’m hoping they’ll do something about it.

I liked The Giver movie, and I’m sure I’ll like the book. But I found out it was a series so I’m waiting till I can get the beautiful set I’ve been eyeing at the bookstore, haha!

  3. I can not wait to read Circe. Staying strong and preventing myself from starting it as I’m reading 5 books and the moment and honestly want to finish at least one of them at some point. 😂😂Glad to hear it’s helping you with your reading phase. 😊

  4. Circe is one of the books that I am currently reading as well. I’m not too far into it yet, but I do like it so far. I hate feeling when a reading slump is coming on. A break is nice when that happens. So happy to hear that you loved Saga! I’ve only read the first volume, but I am super excited to read the rest. Hopefully soon! I love the entire Giver series so much!

  5. I’ve heard meh things about the Belles which has putted me off from wanting to read it… So glad you’re enjoying Circe though! She has always been one of the most fascinating ancient Greek figures for me

  6. ahh, The Giver is amazing! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. 🙂 As for the rest of the series, I wasn’t a fan of the two in the middle, but I loved the last one (The Son) and thought it tied everything together PERFECTLY. It’s definitely worth getting to.
