The Aesthetically Pleasing Book Tag

The Aesthetically Pleasing Book Tag

Like the majority of book lovers, I do judge a book by it’s cover so this tag is perfect. I loved reading Kayla @ Kayla’s Book Nook’s answers and I knew that I needed to do it too!

Best Colour Combo On a Book Cover:

I love the way that blue and gold looks on a book cover! I am always drawn to books with that colour combo.

Best Typography/Font On a Book Cover:

So many covers have simple block lettering so I appreciate when I find of cover with beautiful cursive writing. I also love the size of the lettering on Burial Rites!

Best Simple Cover:

This edition of The Great Gatsby is pretty simple but it is one of my favourites! I love the nod to art deco!

Best End Pages:

I really like all of the end pages in the Word Cloud Classic editions! They are so beautiful and reflect the story perfectly. These specific books are Mansfield Park, Treasure Island, and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Best Map:

You may have noticed that I am not a big fantasy reader so not a lot of the books that I read have a map! The map in An Ember in the Ashes isn’t anything special but I do really love the book itself.

Best Naked Hardback:

This is the naked hardback for Waking Gods by Sylvain Neuvel! How cool is that? I am so excited for the last book in the series to come out so I can see the naked hardback for it in person!

Best Back Cover:

IMG_20180416_1527368

I have never noticed back covers before and a lot of my books have really boring back covers! Far From the Tree has one of my favourite covers and I love that the leaves continue on the back of the book as well.

Best Chapter Headers:

The beginning of each chapter in this edition of The Beauty and the Beast are beyond gorgeous!! These illustrated editions are stunning and I highly recommend checking them out. I want to get my hands on The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan!

Best Illustrations:

This illustrated edition of The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland is creepy and weird but still beautiful. I love the vibrant covers and each and every illustration is completely unique.

Best Spine:

I knew instantly which spine I was going to choose! How gorgeous is this? I love the way it looks on my shelf and I wish more books would have beautiful spines like this one.

Favourite Cover on Shelves:

Obviously this is a joke! There are so many book covers that I love and I could not possibly pick a favourite. I went with this edition of The Great Gatsby because the handsome Leonardo DiCaprio is on the cover and how can you not love that?!

Are the more tags about book covers? I love any excuse to gush about them! I have actually written a couple posts talking about my favourite covers in the past and you can find them here and here if you are interested!

  1. I love this tag! Any excuse to share some gorgeous covers! Is it bad that I want to buy Waking Gods now, even though I haven’t read the first book? It’s just so beautiful!

  2. This post is gorgeous! I read The Queen of Hearts from Netgalley, and liked it but didn’t LOVE it, which I was mostly sad about as now I don’t have an excuse to buy that gorgeous hardcover.

  3. Love this! Now I gotta get me a Word Cloud edition classic. And what edition of the Beauty and the Beast is that? It’s so pretty!
