Spring Cleaning My TBR

SpringCleaningMy TBR

I saw that The Orangutan Librarian decided to spring clean her TBR and I thought that was an excellent idea! I started with 367 books on my TBR shelf on Goodreads and managed to cut in down to 345, which really isn’t that great! I was surprised to see that 10 of the books that I removed were ones that I have already read. I was also surprised that there are so many books on my TBR that I completely forgot about but I still would like to read because they sound amazing. Maybe I will talk about those in a different post! Here are the twelve books that I have removed from my TBR:

Because You Love to Hate Me edited by Ameriie- I was really excited about this anthology. I love reading about villains and I am a huge fan of booktube, so this book definitely appealed to me. Unfortunately, the reviews started to come out and they were disappointing.

Kill the Boy Band by Goldy Moldavsky– The title of this book intrigued me because I used to LOVE boy bands! I was all about The Backstreet Boys back in the day! This is another case where the reviews are not great, and when I actually read the synopsis it does appeal to me now.

Mask of Shadows by Linsey Edwards– There was a lot of hype for this book before it was released, but since then I have heard very little about it. Reviewers who I trust have mixed feelings about it and I am not a huge lover of fantasy to begin with so the book has to pretty well-loved if I am going to enjoy it.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandya Menon– Here is another book that I was highly anticipating but since its release the reviews have been very mixed. I do not think that I would enjoy Dimple as a character so I have decided to pass on this one! I am curious about From Twinkle, With Love!

As You Wish by Chelsea Sedoti– Another case of there being hype before the release and then seeing disappointing reviews when it is actually released. It sounded like it had a lot of potential so I am sad that it did not live up to it!

Switched by Amanda Hocking– Amanda Hocking wrote the series Watersong, which is one of my favourite guilty pleasures! I think I just added this book to my TBR after loving that series so much, even though it does not appeal to me. It has been on my TBR for over five years and I know I will never actually read it.

The Infinite Moment of Us by Lauren Myracle– I am assuming that I added this book to my TBR after reading and loving Shine by Lauren Myracle. The Goodreads average for this one is 3.21, which is really low. Reviewers I trust are saying it is the worst book they ever read!

All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda– I do not read a lot of mystery/thrillers and when I do I try to pick one that has a lot of great reviews. There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews for this one and I am just not inclined to ever pick it up.

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover– I was surprised to see that this was even on my TBR! I have not and never plan to read anything by Colleen Hoover!

Winger by Andrew Smith– I wanted to read this one for a long time but I never got around to it and now my interest in it has faded. There are so many books I want to read and Winger is just not a priority.

Panic by Lauren Oliver– I have talked about this before, but I just do not connect with Lauren Oliver’s writing style. When I have mentioned this book before, others have told me they did not enjoy it.

Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison– This series looks really funny and cute but it is not the kind of thing that I enjoy reading anymore! I really do wish that I had read them a few years ago!

Should I have kept any of these books on my TBR? I am curious to hear your opinions!

  1. It ends with us by Colleen Hoover.. You need to read it. It’s one of my best ever reads…Awesome storyline, gripping characters and gives an amazing feel…. 😍

  2. I did not like The Infinite Moment of Us. The romance was kind of pretty childish for YA. (That seems way harsher than I intended for it to be but I can’t think of another way to describe it.)

  3. I also had As You Wish checked out from my library as a hardback book but I didn’t feel very interested in it after all when I tried reading it two Saturday’s ago. I had just gotten done with reading The Cruel Prince though.

  4. It Ends With Us was the first book of Colleen Hoover’s that I read and I loved it. I can totally understand the mixed reviews that’s it’s gotten as it tackles a really important and sensitive topic. I also really enjoyed Switched by Amanda Hocking, but that was quite a few years ago… I’m not quite sure if it would be one that I’d like now though haha!

    1. People either love or hate Colleen Hoover’s books! I really should read one just to see where I fall! I do like books that take on important topics! Switched does sound good but I just know I will never get around to it!

  5. I loved Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging, but I definitely agree with what you said too. I think if I read them now, I wouldn’t love them as much as I did back then!

  6. I do have All the Missing Girls on my TBR (and on my bookshelf) too but haven’t read it yet… Oh, I loved It Ends With Us! That was my first Colleen Hoover and it grabbed, squeezed, and eventually ripped my heart apart in two. It’s a compelling, emotional book. I’m curious to know what you think on a personal level! 🙂

  7. Thanks for the shoutout and it’s really cool that you did this 😀 And I think that is really good that you removed that much (and I think it’s a good thing that a lot of them got removed because you’d read them). Yeah I’ve seen disappointing reviews for because you love to hate me and can’t be bothered to read it. I really wasn’t especially keen on it ends with us. And yeah I get what you mean about angus thongs and perfect snogging. Great post!

  8. When Dimple Met Rishi, Panic, and It Ends with Us were all meh to bad reads for me so good calls!!
