It is rare that a day goes by that I do not watch something on Netflix, even if it is just on in the background. I have been known to read a book while I have something on Netflix on the TV! This is the perfect tag for me and I was so happy when I found it on Kat’s blog- Life and Other Disasters!
RECENTLY WATCHED: The last book you finished reading.
Bachelor Nation by Amy Kaufman
The Bachelor is truly my biggest guilty pleasure and I think because of that I already knew a lot of what Kaufman talks about in this book and nothing was a surprise to me! I am still happy that I read it and she is a really great writer.
TOP PICKS: A book that has been recommended to you based on books you have previously read.
Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
Pachinko has been recommended to me because I really love books that follow a family through generations. Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi and You Bring the Distant Near by Mitali Perkins are two books like this that I absolutely loved!
RECENTLY ADDED: The last book you bought.
Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff
I have heard mixed things about Fates and Furies but I have been wanting to read it since it came out! I was surprised to find a copy of it for only $5 at Walmart so I couldn’t pass it up! I am hoping to get around to reading it soon.
POPULAR ON NETFLIX: Books that everyone knows about. (2 you’ve read and 2 you haven’t read or have no interest in reading.)
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green & The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
The thing that I find interesting about both of these books is the fact that even people who are not big readers have read them. The majority of my friends have read these two books, even though they would never label themselves readers. I am fascinated by the books that become that popular!
A Court of Thorns and Rose by Sarah J. Maas & The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
I can not put my finger on why I have no interest in reading either of these books. I think it is because I have heard mixed things about them both and the premise of them doesn’t appeal to me to begin with! I just am not willing to risk the chance that I will not enjoy them.
COMEDIES: A funny book.
Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson
Do you not love this cover?? It is hilarious and adorable! The tagline for Furiously Happy is “a funny book about horrible things” and that is the perfect way to describe it. Lawson is hysterical! She has been through some tough times but she is able to see the humour in a lot of things that have happened to her.
DRAMAS: A character who is a drama queen/king.
All of the dancers in Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaiporta & Dhonielle Clayton
I think Tiny Pretty Things is the most dramatic book that I have ever read! These are some catty ballerinas! Each of them is a drama queen in her own way.
ANIMATED: A book with cartoons on the cover.
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
Technically this cover is not a cartoon but close enough! I will use any excuse to show off this cover! Isn’t it so adorable? Definitely one of my all time favourite covers and I am happy to own it.
WATCH IT AGAIN: A book or series that you want to re-read.
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
It is rare that I reread but it is something that I want to do more of! There are a lot of books that I would love to reread but I think I am going to start with The Great Gatsby! It has been years since I have read it and it is one of my favourites.
DOCUMENTARIES: A non-fiction book you’d recommend to everyone.
Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom
This is a book that I always recommend to everyone! Mitch Albom is one of my all-time favourite authors and this is the first book of his that I read. Tuesdays With Morrie has so many important lessons that have stayed with me and I still put in to practice to this day.
ACTION AND ADVENTURE: An action packed book.
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time that I was reading Illuminae! It is non-stop action and I absolutely loved it! I never knew what was going to happen next and it was one of the most unique and special reading experiences that I have ever had.
NEW RELEASES: A book that just came out or will be coming out soon that you can’t wait to read.
Only Human by Sylvain Neuvel
The Themis Files has quickly become my favourite series of all time! The second book, Waking Gods, had a crazy ending and I can not wait to see where the third book in the series goes. It has been a long year waiting for this book and May 1st can not come soon enough!
This was a really fun tag and I enjoyed answering these questions! Have you read any of these books? I would love to hear your thoughts on them!
If you love Netflix then consider yourself tagged!
