The Netflix Book Tag

The NetflixBook Tag

It is rare that a day goes by that I do not watch something on Netflix, even if it is just on in the background. I have been known to read a book while I have something on Netflix on the TV! This is the perfect tag for me and I was so happy when I found it on Kat’s blog- Life and Other Disasters!

RECENTLY WATCHED: The last book you finished reading.

Bachelor Nation by Amy Kaufman

The Bachelor is truly my biggest guilty pleasure and I think because of that I already knew a lot of what Kaufman talks about in this book and nothing was a surprise to me! I am still happy that I read it and she is a really great writer.

TOP PICKS: A book that has been recommended to you based on books you have previously read.

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee

Pachinko has been recommended to me because I really love books that follow a family through generations. Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi and You Bring the Distant Near by Mitali Perkins are two books like this that I absolutely loved!

RECENTLY ADDED: The last book you bought.

Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff

I have heard mixed things about Fates and Furies but I have been wanting to read it since it came out! I was surprised to find a copy of it for only $5 at Walmart so I couldn’t pass it up! I am hoping to get around to reading it soon.

POPULAR ON NETFLIX: Books that everyone knows about. (2 you’ve read and 2 you haven’t read or have no interest in reading.)

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green & The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

dfsdfsdf

The thing that I find interesting about both of these books is the fact that even people who are not big readers have read them. The majority of my friends have read these two books, even though they would never label themselves readers. I am fascinated by the books that become that popular!

A Court of Thorns and Rose by Sarah J. Maas & The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware

sadsda

I can not put my finger on why I have no interest in reading either of these books. I think it is because I have heard mixed things about them both and the premise of them doesn’t appeal to me to begin with! I just am not willing to risk the chance that I will not enjoy them.

COMEDIES: A funny book.

Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson

Image result for furiously happy

Do you not love this cover?? It is hilarious and adorable! The tagline for Furiously Happy is “a funny book about horrible things” and that is the perfect way to describe it. Lawson is hysterical! She has been through some tough times but she is able to see the humour in a lot of things that have happened to her.

DRAMAS: A character who is a drama queen/king.

All of the dancers in Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaiporta & Dhonielle Clayton

I think Tiny Pretty Things is the most dramatic book that I have ever read! These are some catty ballerinas! Each of them is a drama queen in her own way.

ANIMATED: A book with cartoons on the cover.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Technically this cover is not a cartoon but close enough! I will use any excuse to show off this cover! Isn’t it so adorable? Definitely one of my all time favourite covers and I am happy to own it.

WATCH IT AGAIN: A book or series that you want to re-read.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Image result for the great gatsby

It is rare that I reread but it is something that I want to do more of! There are a lot of books that I would love to reread but I think I am going to start with The Great Gatsby! It has been years since I have read it and it is one of my favourites.

DOCUMENTARIES: A non-fiction book you’d recommend to everyone.

Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom

This is a book that I always recommend to everyone! Mitch Albom is one of my all-time favourite authors and this is the first book of his that I read. Tuesdays With Morrie has so many important lessons that have stayed with me and I still put in to practice to this day.

ACTION AND ADVENTURE: An action packed book.

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time that I was reading Illuminae! It is non-stop action and I absolutely loved it! I never knew what was going to happen next and it was one of the most unique and special reading experiences that I have ever had.

NEW RELEASES: A book that just came out or will be coming out soon that you can’t wait to read.

Only Human by Sylvain Neuvel

The Themis Files has quickly become my favourite series of all time! The second book, Waking Gods, had a crazy ending and I can not wait to see where the third book in the series goes. It has been a long year waiting for this book and May 1st can not come soon enough!

This was a really fun tag and I enjoyed answering these questions! Have you read any of these books? I would love to hear your thoughts on them!

If you love Netflix then consider yourself tagged!

  1. I am so glad you decided to the tag as well! It’s really fun and I loved reading your answers!!
And I can’t believe I forgot about Almost Human. I love that series. Do you know if that is the last one in the series or if there is one more. Nevermind, I can just google or goodreads-check that hahaha

  2. What a fantastic tag! It combines my two big loves; books and series, and so I’ll definitely do my own.
As for ACOTAR, if you love high fantasy, you’ll love it! I know I’m biased because “Beauty and the Beast” is my favourite fairytale and this book has to do with that, but aside from this, it is really well written, it’s fast paced and the female lead is not a clumsy, awkward girl for a change. To be honest, she’s kinda badass!
I haven’t read “Carry On” but I’ll probably read it during the summer holidays!

    1. Yay I am looking forward to seeing your answers!

Beauty and the Beast is my favourite too! I tempted to read it because I want to know what I think! The way you talk about it really sells it!

Carry On is good but so much like Harry Potter. I understand why a lot of people love it!

      1. I’ll make sure to let you know once the post is up!

Oh, I’m glad! Did you hear that, Sarah? 😂 Honestly though, the series is so unique and six specific characters are the family you’ve dreamed of having!

If Carry On is so much like HP, I don’t know whether I’ll love it or hate it! 🙈

  3. I agree with so many of your choices!! I’m so excited for Only Human!! It’s one of my most anticipated books of 2018! And Furiously Happy was absolutely hilarious! And Illuminae is so good! I still haven’t read the sequels but now that the series is over hopefully I can get through them pretty soon. Great post! I loved reading through your answers!!

    1. Thank you! It makes me so happy when other people love The Themis Files as much as I do!

I haven’t read the sequels to Illuminae either but I really want to! It sounds as though they just get better and better!

      Thank you!

  4. If you find a book you’re interested in for only $5 you’re basically obligated to buy it at that point. That’s what I tell myself, anyway. #bookhoarderproblems

  5. I read Tuesdays with Morrie in a sociology class forever and three moons ago and I loved it! I’ve tried a couple other Mitch Albom books and they just weren’t the same for me, I’m not sure why.

  6. Furiously Happy was hysterical! I was laughing so hard, my boyfriend came running out of the room to see what was so funny. He was disappointed that it was only a book LOL.The Woman in Cabin 10 a book club read this month so I can let you know how it is. 🙂

  7. I LOVE the newest Gatsby movie. I read the book in high school and loved it. I am going to try and reread this one in the near future, too! I’ve never read Tuesdays with Morrie so I’m going to add that one to my list as well. Thanks for the suggestions!

  8. I definitely need to do this Tag as well, especially as I finally have Netflix too 😄 I love this specific cover for Carry On and I really have to get my copy in this edition, because it looks absolutely stunning 💗
