I Spy Book Challenge

I love a good challenge and, when I saw this one on Eva’s blog Brilliant Bookish, I knew I just had to try it!

Find a book that contains (either on the cover or in the title) an example for each category. You must have a separate book for all 20, get as creative as you want and do it within five minutes!!

Playing for Pizza by John Grisham

I have never read any of John Grisham’s books but something about Playing for Pizza appeals to me. It is set in Italy, they play American football, and there is pizza. Three things I love!

2. transportation

Mosquitoland by David Arnold

I had a few options for this one but I thought that the bus on Mosquitoland was the coolest! This is also just a really great book!

Gunslinger Girl by Lyndsay Ely

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Gunslinger Girl! I love the cover and the main character is pretty awesome!

Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin

Wolf by Wolf is a really unique take on WWII. It is a story that is told as if Hitler had won the world. It has an awesome ending and I really need to pick up the sequel soon.

Year One by Nora Roberts

I was taken aback by how much I enjoyed Year One! I thought it was an original take on fantasy and dystopian. I can not wait for the release of book two!

Beauty and the Beast: Lost in a Book by Jennifer Donnelly

Lost in a Book was really sweet and endearing! I loved the story and this book looks great on my Beauty and the Beast shelf!

Swimming Lessons by Claire Fuller

Swimming Lessons has one of my favourite covers! I love that her hair is like that waves of the water. I adore this book so much!

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

This book is perfect for this prompt- ember and ashes are both products of fire! I was reluctant to read this book but it lives up to the hype!

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Admittedly, Red Queen is not my favourite book/series but I adore the covers!!

10. architecture

The Smell of Other People’s Houses by Bonnie Sue-Hitchcock

Houses count as architecture right? This book was really amazing. It inspired me to read more books set in Alaska.

11. item clothing

The Dress by Megan Hess

This was a hard one but then I remember I own a lot of coffee table books and this one fits perfectly. This book is gorgeous!

The Golden Son by Shilpi Somaya Gowda

I was going to go with Secret Daughter by the same author but then I saw this one and forgot I had it! I still need to read it and I have high hopes. Gowda is an incredible author.

13. time of day

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Admittedly, I did not love The Night Circus as much as I was hoping to! I think my expectations were too high. It was an enjoyable and atmospheric read though!

The Before The and After Now by Peter Monn

Peter Monn is my favourite booktuber so of course I had to support him and buy his book! I love this cover!

15. paranormal being

Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman

The Rules of Magic is about witches and I think that this cover is absolutely beautiful! I was blown away by this book.

The Zookeeper’s Wife by Diane Ackerman

I do not recommend The Zookeeper’s Wife but it was the only book I could find for this prompt.

Far from the Tree by Robin Benway

I was struggling to find anything for this one but then I remembered this fabulous book. The cover screams autumn to me so that counts!

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Ahh Red Rising is as good as everyone says that it is!! I love these characters.

19. celestial body

The Boy in the Moon by Ian Brown

It has been years since I read The Boy in the Moon but I remember really enjoying it. It’s a book I would like to reread one day.

Here is another book I have yet to read but I am excited to get around to! How amazing is the cover??

  1. This is such a fun tag and it looks like you had a great time doing it as well which is awesome! I don’t know if I’d be able to find something that fits into all the categories but I’d love to try this out at sometime or another!
