WWW Wednesday (1)

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading-

Sing Unburied Sing by Jesmyn Ward

I am about halfway through this book and let me just tell you, it is amazing! Jesmyn Ward has the potential to become one of my new favourite authors. I have so many feelings about this novel already, and I am not ready for it to end.  I am really trying to savour it.

Just Finished-

Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro

Wow! This book! It is still messing with me and I finished it a few days ago.  It is thought-provoking, heartbreaking and powerful.  It really challenges you and makes you think about what it means to be human. I will have a review posted soon!

Reading Next

Gunslinger Girl by Lyndsay Ely

A lot of fellow bloggers have read this book lately and I am so curious about it.  I am not usually in to Westerns (not that I have ever actually read one) but something about this book is appealing to me.  I can not wait to dive in to it and see what I think! After all of the heavy, Literary Fiction that I have been reading lately, I am ready for something fun and action packed!

If you have read any of these books I would love to know! Has anyone seen the Never Let Me Go movie? Is it any good?

  1. OMG! I loooove Never Let Me Go, and I agree with all the emotions you were left with!
Nevertheless, a book that’s able to cause all that, is always worth my time ♥

  2. I’ve heard so much about Kazuo Ishiguro! I’m currently reading one of Haruki Murakami’s books, 1Q84 (have you heard of him?), and I’m loving the magical realism. I looked up lists with influential Japanese authors, and Ishiguro always popped up on those lists. Have you read more than one of Ishiguro’s books? Which one should I start with? Good luck with your TBR! 😋

  3. Sing Unburied Sing & Gunslinger Girl are both on my TBR, I’ve also heard great things about them both. Glad you’ve enjoyed your recent reads & hope Gunslinger Girl delivers on the fun 🙂 Happy reading!

  4. I don’t think I’ve ever actually read a western so will be interested in hearing what you think once you get to it.

Glad to hear you loved Never Let Me Go. That book just about broke me.

  5. Never Let Me Go is one of my favorites! I have a quote from it on my wall. Did you see the movie? Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

      1. The quote is actually a couple paragraphs when Miss Lucy tells Tommy that he is worthwhile even if he’s not creative. It’s really touching. I enjoyed the movie a lot though it’s a bit more obvious what the end game is than it was on the book.
