I did this tag a couple months ago and thought it was really fun so I am doing it again! I decided to only use books that I read in 2017, but I am not including any of the books that I talked about in my last post.
THE RULES:
- Randomly choose 3 books
- For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread (like Marry, Boff, Kill).
- Repeat until you completed three rounds (or six) (or however many you want to do).
Round #1
Reread: Red Rising (duh!) because it is so action packed and I loved every single second of it. I am sure that there is a lot that I missed and that I would enjoy this book even more during a reread.
Rewrite: This was a hard one but I would have to rewrite History of Bees. It was beautiful and there was a lot that I loved about it, but it was also a bit too long. There were sections that seemed to drag on. I would have had a larger focus on the part that is set in the future!
Burn: Now do not get me wrong, I really liked Mosquitoland, but I think that it was the least original of the three books. If I wanted to, I could probably find a book similar to it- John Green’s books for example. It is probably the one that I am least likely to reread as well.
Round #2
Reread: The Lonely Hearts Hotel!!! This is one of my all time favourite books and there is nothing I would change about it. I wanted to reread it the moment that I finished it. So beautiful, so heartbreaking!
Rewrite: I would have to rewrite An Ember in the Ashes even though there isn’t much I would change about it. I would change something about the romance. I would eliminate any love triangles, even though it didn’t bother me as much in this book.
Burn: Tiny Pretty Things started out so fun. It felt like I was watching a CW show, and I loved every second of it! By the second half of the book I was just so tired of reading about these awful characters. Is the sequel any good? At this point I do not think I will be reading it.
Round #3
Reread: I am so rereading Turtles All the Way Down! I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It is definitely my favourite John Green novel and I know I will be compelled to reread it one day.
Rewrite: Do not hate me but The Martian! I enjoyed this book a lot but I found that it was very repetitive. There were parts that I just skimmed over.
Burn: I think at this point you guys know how I feel about The Girls! So disappointing and not at all what I was expecting. Honestly, I wish I could rewrite this book as well because there is so much I would change. I guess at that point it would be like writing a whole new novel any way!
Round #4
Reread: Far From the Tree is such an amazing book and there is nothing that I would change about it. It is one of my favourite books of the year and one that really moved me in a way that I was not expecting.
Rewrite: While I did enjoy The Nightingale, I did not connect with it in the way that many others did. I felt that it was too long and for some reason I was not as invested in the characters as I hoped I would be. I think maybe I fell in to the hype so my expectations were through the roof and I have read so many WWII novels that it is hard for them to stand out.
Burn: I hate to say it but I think The Chemist was my least favourite book of 2017. It was boring and I probably should have just DNF’d it.

I LOVE this tag! It is deff one of my favorites of all time. I had so much fun doing this with all my 2017 books that I may keep up the tradition at the end of 2018!
I really want to read Far from the Tree. I have seen it everywhere lately! I don’t know how I missed it last year.

Oooh, good choices for your answers! I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Far From the Tree, so that’s definitely high up on my TBR — and as for An Ember in the Ashes, I wouldn’t change much about it either because I loved the story, the action, and even the romance, though I usually find love triangles annoying. 😊
Highly recommend Far From the Tree. It is amazing! For some reason the love triangles in An Ember in the Ashes just work.

Some of the rounds are really difficult! Both of those books are fantastic. I highly recommend them!
This tag looks like a lot of fun! I’ve seen it done with book characters as well! Might have to give it a go ☺️ and I completely agree on rereading TATWD, I will be getting back into that book asap!

Great tag, Kristin! I totally agree with the love triangles needing some time out in AEiTA. It just became waaaayyy too much at one point, so it was basically a love square or pentagon. I don’t even know, but it didn’t do much for me.
I haven’t read any of the other books but I’m intrigued! I also need to read AEiTA’s sequel…
I need to read the sequel as well! I am hoping the romances are sorted out in that one but I am doubtful!
I love this tag! Although the only book on this list that I have read is Turtles All the Way Down I enjoyed reading your reasons for each of the other books. Turtles is also my new favorite John Green book. I think I will do this tag soon!

I can always do without love triangles. They very rarely work for me! The first half of Tiny Pretty Things is so good but than it just gets exhausting reading about all the drama. I totally understand why people love it though.

I also wasn’t really a fan of The Girls, I thought it could be SO much better and I expected it to be SO much better. I also wasn’t fond of The Chemist, I DNFed it after the first few chapters!
