Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was created over at The Broke and the Bookish! I really love this topic because there are so many books I meant to read in 2017! I am going to hold myself accountable and finally take the time to read these books this year. There are some books on this list that I have been wanting to read for years!
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
I am so ashamed! I have put this book on every TBR and I still have yet to read it. I truly have no excuses or reasons as to why I have not picked it up. I did manage to read my first Neil Gaiman novel in 2017, and really enjoyed it, so I have a little bit more motivation to give it a go.
East of Eden by John Steinbeck
John Steinbeck wrote my favourite novel and East of Eden is often considered to be his best novel. I have started it and it is so beautifully written. I want to read it when I have a chance to really dedicated myself to it. I am hopeful that I will get to it this summer!
Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I read Illuminae this year and was blown away by it. I wanted to pick up Gemina right away but I just never did! I have now decided to read it closer to the release date of Obsidio.
Golden Son by Pierce Brown
Much like Illuminae and Gemina, I read Red Rising and absolutely loved it but never picked up the second book in the series. Everyone says that Golden Son is even better than Red Rising so I can not wait to see where the story goes and what happens to my precious characters.
The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
At this point I feel like I am the only person who has yet to read The Handmaid’s Tale. Margaret Atwood is a Canadian treasure, and I can not believe I have not read one of her books. I also want to read it before I watch the show. I know this book is heavy so I have to emotionally prepare myself.
The Children’s Crusade by Ann Packer
I have owned this book for many years now. It was totally a cover by and I have not heard anyone talk about it but it sounds interesting! I always plan on picking it up but then I end up buying another book and this one gets pushed back. I am not going to let that happen this year!
Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman
I discovered a love for Fredrik Backman in 2017 but I have yet to read this book! It sounds so charming and I know that I am going to adore it. I know that I will read this book this year!
Three Wishes by Liane Moriarty
Liane Moriarty’s book are such page turners and so fun to read. I am saving this book for when I am in a reading slump because her books always manage to pull me out of it. I know nothing about this book and that is how I like to go in to her novels.
Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
I thoroughly enjoy reading WWII fiction so I know that it quite ridiculous that I have not read Salt to the Sea. Everyone seems to really enjoy it, and I do not think that I have ever read a bad review.
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
The Bear and the Nightingale was on so many fellow blogger’s favourite books of the year lists and it makes me so mad that I didn’t read it in 2017! It sounds exactly like the kind of book that I enjoy and I just know that it is going to become a favourite! Maybe in a weird way that is why I have been putting it off? I do not want to be disappointed!

Three Wishes is on my backlist TBR for this year – it’s one of the few Liane Moriarty books I haven’t read yet!

I haven’t had a chance to read the Pierce Brown series, but it looks so good. I’m hoping I can fit it in in audio this year.

Great list! I never got around to reading Salt to the Sea either. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. I recently got the East of Eden ebook and I can’t wait to read it.
Everyone seems to love Salt to the Sea! I have high hopes for East of Eden.
I haven’t read these but I want to read The Bear and the Nightingale, Salt to the Sea and of course Britt-Marie was Here as I fell in love with frederik Backman’s writing!!! Great list 😉

Great list! So many on there I have loved, especially Gemina, The Bear and the Nightingale, and The Handmaid’s Tale. I also need to read American Gods! I’m slowly working my way through Neil Gaiman’s books and included Norse Mythology on my list this week.
I really want to read Norse Mythology as well. I am curious to see what you end up thinking about that one!

It took me about a year to read Gemina but once I finished it, I was kicking myself for not reading it sooner. It’s such a thrilling ride and it’ll keep you on the edge of your seats.

I haven’t started the Illuminae series, but hope to do so this year! I’ve already bought the first book! If it’s any good, perhaps I’ll progress with the series.

I’ve heard amazing things about The Bear and the Nightingale, and I’m really excited to read it, but I’m waiting until I get a copy😅.

I read AMERICAN GODS a few years ago. I can’t remember what the story was about, but I think I liked it. LOL. SALT TO THE SEA is amazing. I definitely recommend reading it ASAP.

I love how you always have books on your TBR lists that aren’t just YA — way to go with the diverse TBR lists! 😊 I have American Gods on my shelf and it’s a little bit daunting for me because IT’S SUCH A HUGE BOOK and I’ve never read a Neil Gaiman book so I don’t know if I’ll like it… Best of luck with your TBR, though! I feel like I have gotten a lot better at reading a mix of everything! There are great books in every genre! I have been intimidated by the size of Americans Gods too. I have read The Ocean at the End of the Lane by him and it was so strange but really good!
East of Eden is so good. One of my favorite classics.

East of Eden is fantastic! And I’m sure you’ll like Gemina and Golden Son if you liked the first one. Salt to the Sea and Bear and Nightingale are great! Awesome list- hope you understand them all!

I read East of Eden such a long time ago — I really should reread some Steinbeck. 🙂 I need to read Salt to the Sea as well. I picked up a copy over a year ago, and it’s still sitting on my TBR pile. Hi Kristin. Nice blog. I really enjoyed American Gods when I read it (I saw the first episode of the TV show recently too which was interesting)…but John Steinbeck is just outstanding on your list! I’ve read a few of his now (not East of Eden yet) and I love how he writes, he seems to capture people so well.

The Bear and The Nightingale was on my list too, Fantasy isn’t my go to genre but I’ve heard that it’s really great! I’ve also really still want to read the Illumina series.
I like to read fantasy every once in awhile but it is not my favourite genre either. I think Bear and the Nightingale is going to be beautiful! Illuminae is so good!
