The #Notall Book Tag

#NotallBook Tag

The Orangutan Librarian created this wonderful tag and I just had to do it! It was really interesting and difficult to come up with answers for this one!

#notall cover changes – a cover change you liked

This is my go to answer for this question.  This cover change was so necessary! I had heard so many great things about Anna and the French Kiss but avoided picking it up solely because of the cheesy cover! I am sure that I am not alone in that.  The new cover is a huge improvement.

#notall adaptations – an adaptation you love more than the book

Image result for the notebook

The Notebook! I love that movie but it is one of Nicholas Sparks worse books in my opinion!

#notall tropes – a trope you’ll never tire of seeing

Image result for pride and prejudice

I actually wrote a whole post about this! I think hate to love is my favourite trope. I just love reading about all of that tension. I think that Pride and Prejudice is a good example of this, and one of the reasons that I love it so much.

#notall instalove – you instaloved this instacouple

Image result for i'll give you the sun

There are not a lot of instalove stories that I love but you could argue that one of my all time favourite books has instalove- I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson! Both couples have instalove and I absolutely adore both relationships!

#notall love triangles – an example of love triangle done well

5821978

Hmmm… Maybe The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han? I had such a love/hate relationship with that love triangle!

#notall parents – bookish parents that, you know, PARENT!

Image result for to all the boys i loved before

Apparently I have Jenny Han on my mind! Lara Jean’s dad in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is one of my favourite book dads! Him and Atticus Fitch!

#notall villains – a villain you love

Image result for jackal blood of eden

Jackal from The Blood of Eden series! He will always be my favourite villain!

#notall chosen ones – a chosen one you can get behind

Image result for harry potter

Such an obvious answer but Harry Potter!

#notall hyped books – a book that lived up to the acclaim

Image result for warcross

Most recently I would have to say Warcross and just Marie Lu’s writing in general.  I have heard people talk about her for years and now I understand why!

#notall *insert favourite genre* – a book you’re not keen on from your favourite genre

Related image

I am a huge fan of historical fiction, especially if it centers around WWII. I was so intrigued by The Zookeeper’s Wife and sadly I was really let down.  The book was less about WWII and more about the biology and behaviour of animals.  It was not what I was expecting or looking for.

#notall *insert least favourite genre* – a book you liked from a genre you don’t often read

Image result for night film

I am not a fan of horror/thriller novels but I really enjoyed Night Film! It kept me on the edge of my seat and was not like anything that I have ever read before.

  1. I love this tag! I have to say that I also enjoy the hate-to-love trope, but it isn’t my favorite because so many people manage to mess it up. I don’t mind hate-to-love when it was a childhood rivalry or a case of mistaken identity or such. However, when characters literally spend more than half of a book or movie hating each other just to love each other in the end by some form of magic, I can’t let it go. I recently watched a Christmas movie where literally the characters did nothing but argue for at least 45 minutes to an hour of the 90-120 minute movie, just to fall in love at the end. But when it’s done right, I do enjoy the story.

  2. Yay I’m so glad you did this!! You’re so right about the Anna and the French Kiss cover!! Ah yes I love the hate to love trope- it never gets old 😀 Ah I get what you mean about the Summer I turned pretty. And Lara Jean’s dad is the best! I also really like the sound of Night Film and I’ve heard such good things. Great answers!

  3. I love this tag! It’s very unique! The only one of these I’d have a REALLY hard time answering is the one about instalove. I can’t think of any instalove stories that I’m that big of a fan of (at least not right now). About love triangles though, the one in The Infernal Devices works SO well! I never knew I could actually enjoy love triangles until that series

  4. I used the same cover change for my answers when I did the tag! The new ones for the Anna and the French Kiss series are just SO pretty in comparison to whatever those previous ones were.
I think I have The Notebook at home, but despite me having read quite a few of Sparks books, I never could go through that one. So, I cannot agree fullheartedly because I haven’t actually read it, but I can definitely imagine it. Which Sparks book is your favorite?

      1. My favorites (and I am sorry because I know they are a lot) were The Lucky One, Dear John, The Longest Ride, The Last Song and Safe Haven … pretty much in that order. And yes, it is a complete coincidence that they were all made into movies haha

  5. I owned both original covers of Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door. I was SO angry when the cover changed for Isla! It wasn’t that I didn’t like it better, but more that they no longer matched. 🙂
