TTT- Top Ten Things on My Bookish Bucket List

TopTenTuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was created over at The Broke and the Bookish! This weeks topic is top ten favourite books of the year but I feel like it is too early to make that list! What if I read a favourite between now and the new year? I am going to use this opportunity to catch up on a past topic that I missed out on! So this week I am going to share the top ten things on my bookish bucket list!

Attend BEA

I am determined to attend the Book Expo of America in the near future.  I was so envious this year when I was reading everyone’s BEA wrap ups! It sounds amazing! I love the idea of book lovers coming together and meeting wonderful authors and attending informative panels.

Visit Strand Bookstore in New York

While I am in New York for BEA I might as well go to Strand! It is such an iconic bookstore.  I don’t just want to buy books there but I want some of their merchandise as well- like a Strand hat or t-shirt!

Have a library like the one in Beauty and the Beast

I have been envious of the Beast’s library since I was a kid. I have dreamt about having a library in my home with bookshelves so tall that I need a ladder in order to reach the books on top!

Visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios

My mom also loves Harry Potter (the movies, she has never read the books!!) and we often talk about how much we would love to go to universal.  We will make that happen one day! It would be so fun to be able to share that experience with my mom, someone who I have gushed to about Harry Potter since I was ten years old.

Meet my favourite authors (Jandy Nelson, Mitch Albom, Pierce Brown, etc, etc, etc)

I have never met an author before but there are so many I would be honoured to meet! I would just love to shake their hands and thank them for writing books that I love and have had some impact on my life.

Own signed copies of all my favourite books

CANNERY ROW: STEINBECK, John

I always get so excited when I receive and/or buy a signed book! If I am dreaming big than I would love to have all of my books signed, but I will settle for just having my favourites signed.  If I owned a signed copy of Cannery Row by John Steinbeck I think I would die of happiness. Unfortunately I have found these books for sale but they range in price from $2800-$7500! Just a little out of my price range…

Start a little library

The beach town where I go every summer has so many little libraries and I fell in love with them this year! I have not seen any in my hometown so I would love look in to starting one!

Start and run a successful book club

There are not many book clubs in my area, especially for people in their 20’s.  I think it would be fun to start a book club and have people actually join and be active in the club! I would love to have some more readers in my life.

Read more classics

I enjoy reading classics and a lot of my favourite novels would be considered classics, but for some reason I rarely reach for them! Pride and Prejudice, Cannery Row, and the Great Gatsby are three of my all time favourite novels! There is a long list of classics that I would love to take the time to read.

Go on a Jane Austen themed vacation

  1. I love so many of these! I would love my own huge library, and starting a Little Library would be so fun in the community. I want to read more classics next year, too. The Wizarding World at Universal is SO MUCH FUN. We went a couple years ago and had an absolute blast!

  2. I would also love to attend BEA! BUT this year I’m going to attend the Festival of Books in LA as my first book event. I love the Little Library! I’ve also thought often about starting one.

  3. Love your bookish bucket list!!! I hope I can check off Universal this January. BEA sounds amazing! I want to Frankfurt Buchmesse the biggest book event in the world.;-) maybe in 2020. I love the little libraries and have seen quite a few in neighborhoods around the Bay Area. It’s something that can be done easily enough I think. And the book club sounds fantastic!! Good Luck!!!

  4. I love this list so much!! I would love to go to BEA and the Strand 😀 And I really want a library like Belle’s. And gosh I’d love to meet all my favourite authors and signed copies of all my favourite books (though, like you, that’d be super hard/nigh on impossible for a lot of them lol 😉 )

  5. OMG I love this post!!! I soooo agree with you on having the massive library like in Beauty & the Beast. Having recently relocated I had to leave a lot of my books with my parents so now I’m having major withdrawal from them.

I would love to visit the Young Adult Book expo myself – it’s definitely on my list for next year as I missed the one that recently passed.

    Happy Reading! 🙂

  6. May I do all this with you Kristin? Absolutely ALL that you listed above? Please? Pretty please? LOL

  7. I would love to do so many of these things epecially go to BEA and the Wozarding World of Harry Potter! I have been to the Strand and it was awesome! Though I do suggest going towards the middle of the week or some other time when it is less crowded because it can get very cramped. I would love to visit Powell’s in Portland.

  8. All of these sound absolutely awesome! I had never thought of an Austen themed vacation before – so cool <3
I would definitely wish for some of these myself 🙂 I really hope you get to cross them off your list soon, Kristin!

  9. Definitely definitely have a library like from Beauty and the Beast! #librarygoals. I also really want to go to Harry Potter World. One day! But that is very high on my bookish (and regular) bucket list.

  10. Love this list. So many things that I want to do.

I’m not sure about an event like BEA, I love the idea of all of the books and bookish people but it just always sounds so frantic and I’m not a fan of queues. I have been really lucky and had the opportunity to meet a lot of my fave authors (including Pierce Brown) but there are definitely a few more who really need to come to Scotland or who I’d love to see again.

I have had a couple of issues with signed books. Twice this year the author has signed the book and put someone else’s name on it (incl Victoria Aveyard signing “To Emma” on a collectors edition of Red Queen) 😀

      1. The Pierce Brown event was ridiculously quiet too. I don’t think that many people in Scotland had actually heard of him. I was disappointed he was wearing a cap 🙂

  11. Book Expo is fantastic. I went for the first time this year and I had such a nice time, even though I went by myself. I think it would be a bit more fun to go with some book loving friends. I’ve also gone to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but not since they opened Diagon Alley, so I need to go again sometime.

      1. I watched so many BookTubers vlogs about BEA and they had meals together and went to parties and stuff after the Javits closed for the day, and it looked like fun. I just ended up spending quite a bit of alone time in my hotel room. I mean, I also did several bus tours of NYC, but I think it could have been better if I could have shared the experience with someone else.

  12. Love this list! A Jane Austen themed vacation is on my bucket list too, and attending BEA would be so much fun. I got to visit The Stand this year and loved it, although it was a tad overwhelming to be honest. When you make your bookish visit to NYC be sure to stop by The Morgan Library and Museum. One of its rooms looks straight out of Beauty and the Beast and is library goals for sure!

  13. This is a great list! I’ve always wanted to join a book club, but I fear that I won’t want to read whatever it is they are reading, and part of me just doesn’t want to deviate from my ever growing tbr 😛
My goal is to go the Strand bookstore… I wish I’d known about it when I was in New York a few years ago, but alas I did not!

  14. I am so desperate to go to Harry Potter world at Universal, it would literally be a dream come true! We kind of half did the Jane Austen thing on a recent family holiday like we went to Bath and visited Chatsworth House where the 2005 adaption of Pride and Prejudice was filmed (my favourite part was the hall of statues, it was stunning!), and we’ve also recently been to the Jane Austen house museum in Chawton where we saw her writing table which was amazing! Hope you get to do some of these things soon! 🙂
