A-Z Bookish Tag

A-ZBookish Tag

I was tagged by the lovely Emma @ Thoughts of a Brown Eyed Girl.  This tag is really fun so I was really happy when she tagged me.

A. Author you’ve read the most books from

Image result for nicholas sparks books

…apparently I have read 18 Nicholas Sparks books! No shame…

B. Best sequel ever

Is it cheating to say all of the Harry Potter books? If I had to choose one my favourite is The Goblet of Fire.

The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa, the second book in the Blood of Eden series, is probably my favourites non Harry Potter sequel!

C. Currently reading

I am not currently reading anything! I finished The Lonely Hearts Hotel yesterday and I am waiting to my Book Outlet order to arrive!

D. Drink of choice

Diet coke. I have a little bit of an addiction to diet coke.  It is not good.

Alcohol wise I like a whiskey sour and/or red wine.

E. E-reader or physical book

Physical book. I can not get in to ebooks!

F. Fictional character you probably would have dated in high school.

Peter Kavinsky from the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series.  I was in to football players back then.  He reminds me of my high school boyfriend in a lot of ways.

G. Glad you gave this book a chance

5759

Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk–  It is not a book I ever thought that I would read and only picked it up after seeing a booktuber rave about it.  I was so surprised by how much I loved it and that ending!!

H. Hidden gem

30341639

Swimming Lessons by Claire Fuller– I was surprised to see that this book has less than 10,000 ratings on Goodreads. It is such a beautiful character driven novel.

In this spine-tingling tale Ingrid Coleman writes letters to her husband, Gil, about the truth of their marriage, but she never sends them. Instead she hides them within the thousands of books her husband has collected. After she writes her final letter, Ingrid disappears.

Twelve years later, her adult daughter, Flora comes home to look after her injured father. Secretly, Flora has never believed her mother is dead, and she starts asking questions, without realizing that the answers she’s looking for are hidden in the books that surround her

I. Important moment in your reading life

There are so many! The moment that I read The Outsider’s really stands out to me.  I feel like that was truly the moment that I discovered my passion for reading. I have always been a reader but never with such enthusiasm until I read and loved all of S.E. Hinton’s novels.

J. Just finished

The Lonely Hearts Hotel by Heather O’Neill! It was incredible and I have a lot of say about it so will be posting a full review soon!

K. Kind of book you won’t read

I am open to most genres but I can not see myself reading erotica any time soon. Having said that though I have read Fifty Shades of Grey…

L. Longest book you’ve read

33

Probably this edition of The Lord of the Rings.  It is 1216 pages!

M. Major book hangover because of…

I find that I get book hangovers after reading books that I loved.  It is like I am just not ready to move on from them.  This is especially true if the book is also really heavy and draining.  It takes me awhile to move on from books like that.  Examples would be Everything I’ve Never Told You by Celeste Ng and Life of Pi by Yann Martel.

N. Number of bookshelves you own

I have three bookshelves and many other nooks and crannies where I display my books!

O. One book you’ve read multiple times

4799

Cannery Row by John Steinbeck.  I am not a big rereader but this is my favourite book and I love rereading it!

P. Preferred place to read

In the bathtub! That is where I get the majority of my reading done because there are zero distractions.

Q. Quote that inspires you

Most people are nice when you finally see them.

– Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

R. Reading regrets

I can not really think of any! I do not even regret reading books that I didn’t enjoy because I think they have helped me to figure out what I like and what I do not like in books.

S. Series you’ve started and need to finish

Image result for darker shade of magic series

The Shade of Magic series by V.E. Schwab– I read and loved the first book this year and can not wait to continue on with the series.  I am really excited to learn more about these characters that I love.

T. Three of your all time favorite books

Cannery Row by John Steinbeck

I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

U. Unapologetic fangirl

The only book/series that I have truly fangirled over is the Harry Potter series.  I have collected so much Harry Potter memorabilia at this point that it is a little bit insane.

V. Very excited for this release more than others

Image result for sleeping giants book 3

Only Human by Sylvain Neuvel– The Themis Files has quickly become one of my favourite series and I can not wait for book three! It has been a long wait already and it has been killing me. May 1st can not come soon enough!!

W. Worst bookish habit

I am horrible with character names! I miss pronounce them and more often than not I forget what their names were when I am writing my review or talking to someone about the book.  The characters have to be really special for me to remember their names!

X. X marks the spot: Pick the 27th book from the top left shelf

The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway–  This is on my classics shelf!

Y. Your latest purchase

It is very rare that I can afford to stay up all night reading these days.  I think the last time that I did that was when I read The Hunger Games. I could not put this book down! At the time it was unlike anything I had ever read before!

  1. Yay! This is such a fun tag, so I hope that you had fun putting it together. I really enjoyed reading your answers – you had a lot of great ones. 😀 Thanks for the shout-out.

  2. oh i love this! thanks for sharing all the facts with us! i also love reading in the bathtub! that’s the only place my cats won’t disturb me and warm water, perfect place!! <3
and yes! you definitely need to finish the shades of magic series!!!

  3. I love that you have no reading regrets & that reading what you don’t like helps you figure what you don’t want to read… that’s a very positive spin on it. I feel like I look at it in a similar way because then you know what to avoid later right!?

  4. Loved reading your answers! the bathtub is also my place to read uninterrupted & I LOVE IT! haha! & anytime someone quotes To Kill a Mockingbird my heart skips a beat 🙂

P.S. I’m no bumping Swimming Lessons up on my tbr, I own a copy from BOTM but never actually read it

      1. Haha! I know, I do it literally all the time! Or like by the end of a book, when a character comes around that hasn’t been talked about in a while, I’m always like “wait, who was that? And what did they have to do with this story?” Lol

  5. Swimming Lessons sounds like an awesomely intriguing book. Also, what is Cannery Row about? I’ve never seen that title of Steinbeck’s before.

    1. Cannery Row is one of those books that doesn’t have much of a plot put has fascinating characters. You follow a group of unemployed men who are just trying to get by and still have a pretty positive outlook on life. I learnt a lot from that book!

  6. Wow, what a fun tag!! I probably do this tag. By the way, the more you talk about John Steinbeck the more intrigued I am to read his books! (I’m a bit intimidated though)

  7. This is such a fun tag!! I think I’m going to have to do it. I also get major book hangovers after books I loved….they inspire me to keep reading more books, but my heart is still too attached to the last one to move on…it’s such a good feeling though.

      1. I think a lot of the time I just don’t want to let go of the characters….I feel like if I read a new book and get attached to the characters in that story, I’ll get farther from my love for the characters in previous book!

  8. oh my god obsessing over your three favorites!!! i haven’t read cannery row yet but i looooove john steinbeck. and i’ll give you the sun…and ready player one…oh man <3
