Reread, Rewrite, Burn Tag

Reread,Rewrite,Burn (1)I have seen this tag going around booktube for awhile now, but it was one of my favourite booktubers video, Emily Fox, that inspired me to try this tag out for myself! I decided to only use books that I have read so far in 2017!

THE RULES:

  • Randomly choose 3 books
  • For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread (like Marry, Boff, Kill).
  • Repeat until you completed three rounds (or six) (or however many you want to do).

Round #1

Reread: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo- This was so easy! I LOVED this book!

Rewrite: The Essex Serpent– I really enjoyed the concept of this book and the writing really was beautiful, but there were parts of the story that I skimmed out of sheer boredom.  There was too much description that I felt was unnecessary and would cut out in a rewrite.

Burn: Everything, Everything– I have some serious issues with the end of this book and, therefore, the whole novel was ruined for me!

Round #2

Wow this one is hard! I truly enjoyed all three of these books!

Reread: A Man Called Ove– This has become one of my favourite books of all time.  There is absolutely nothing I would change about it!

RewriteIlluminae– This book is really fantastic, and the only thing that I would want to rewrite are the scenes told through security camera footage.  I do not know why but I just did not enjoy reading those sections as much as I did the rest of the novel.

Burn: Dumplin‘- This was an enjoyable read but nowhere near the same level as the other two books!

Round #3

Reread: A Darker Shade of Magic– I enjoyed this book so much more than I was expecting to, and I can not wait to continue on with the series! I love these characters!

RewriteUprooted– This story had so much potential, and I loved the magic system, but I just could not connect with the characters.  I hate to say this but I really could not stand the Dragon! I would rewrite his whole personality!

Burn: Before I Fall– I found myself so bored while read this book and I just do not think that books that replay the same day over and over are for me.

Round #4

Reread: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before– This book was just so cute and put a huge smile on my face. I related so much to Lara Jean.  This series definitely has a special place in my heart!

RewriteWarcross– Do not get me wrong, this book was amazing, but I would take out all of the “she let out a breathe she didn’t know she was holding” lines!

Burn Carry On– I enjoyed this book for what it was but it really did read like Harry Potter fan fiction! I can always find that online right?

That is all I am going to do for now, but it you enjoyed this tag please let me know! I would love to do this again! Also I tag anyone who wants to do this! I hope you all do because I am dying to see everyone’s choices!

I hope I didn’t make anyone too mad with my answers! Please share your opinions on these books in the comments!

  1. That was such a fun tag and I’m glad you leave this open to everyone! There are so many books out there I’d like to reread!
I totally agree with you on rewriting Illuminae! This book blew my mind!

  2. Nope not mad. This is a very interesting tag as I’m often pondering on my Goodreads read shelves and asking if I would give the same rating now sometimes years after. My answer is nearly always yes. Now some books with lowa ratings I would probably put in the bin choice 😉

  3. Ooooh loving the Christmas theme 😀 and I’d love to see a rewrite of Warcross. Although I have yet to read it, I’ve heard the ending is a cliff-hanger so maybe you’d change something about that 😛

  4. I really liked this tag and might take it for myself! (Linking back to your post of course) but I really liked your answers and would have most of the same answers. I really like Before I Fall and Uprooted so I probably would have burned A Darker Shade of Magic.

      1. Well, I literally have posts planned every day of November, so that’s the earliest I would be able to fit it in. My participating in NaNoWriMo meant I had to do quite a bit of blog planning and preparation.

      2. That makes a lot of sense. Hmmm…so do I use this toward the beginning of December or schedule it at the end of the month? Decisions, decisions. lol.

  5. Fun tag! Haha – we’re a picky lot, us readers, eh? There are so many books I’d love to tweak a bit, just to suit my own preferences as much as anything. And even the cover of the Rainbow Rowell book looks like an HP rip-off… 🙂

  6. OMG I totally agree with those security footage scenes hahah I skimmed through most of those parts. I think it just threw off the balance of the novel since it was big blocks of text. I don’t know lol

  7. This tag really seems like a lot of fun! I’ve had A Man Called Ove on my tbr for ages, since a friend of mine recommended it to me, because she absolutely loved it. And now you say it’s one of your faves as well… I think I really have to pick it up soon! 😊

  8. Of this list, I have only read Everything, Everything and I agree with you that the ending is messed up. I also have serious issues with it. The movie made it no better. From your responses to some of these books, it looks like I will be adding more books to my never-ending pile of books I want to read.
