TTT- Best Bookish Halloween Costumes

TopTen Tuesday (1)

Happy Halloween Everyone!!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was created over at The Broke and the Bookish! This week is a Halloween Freebie, which means we get to be creative this week and come up with out own topic! I can not wait to see what everyone else comes up with! I thought it might be fun to share some of my favourite book-inspired Halloween costumes. There are so many amazing ones out there so I had a hard time narrowing it down to just these ten!

Anything Harry Potter… Of Course!

How cute is that Harry Potter costume?? It is perfect! I would love to dress up as Luna Lovegood or Umbridge but I wonder if anyone would get it? That Umbridge costume is just so spot on.

Matilda

Matilda costume Book Week ideas. Newt in a jar too.

She is too cute! This costume is perfection! I have a special place in my heart for Matilda so this costume just brings a huge smile to my face!

Sherlock Holmes and Watson

I adore this dynamic duo and it would make for such a fun costume to do with a friend/partner! I feel like you can have a lot of fun dressed up as these two!

All of the Characters from Alice in Wonderland

These are all so fantastic! I always wanted to dress up as Alice- I don’t know why I haven’t yet!

Shakespeare and His Characters

This little Shakespeare is just hilarious- I love it! I know that Romeo and Juliet is overdone but I still think it is romantic and cute.  I also think Lady Macbeth or Hamlet would make for a great costume!

The Hobbit/LOTR

I do not know why it is so cute to see toddlers dressed up as Frodo but it just is!

Jane Austen Characters

I like that these costumes are pretty easy to put together but still recognizable- especially if you carry a copy of the book. Elizabeth Bennet is my favourite character, so obviously I would love to be her for Halloween!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

This is such a great costume idea for a family! This family absolutely nailed it!

Anne of Green Gables

I just read Anne of Green Gables for the first time this year and I loved it! Anne is such a fantastic character and really makes for an amazing Halloween costume!

The Hunger Games

I know that The Hunger Games is not as relevant as it once was but I still love how creative these costumes are! This Effie costume is spot on, and the Katniss wedding dress is fantastic!

  1. I love these! My friend dressed up as Luna last year and I kid you not, so many people were coming up to her and complimenting the get-up. Umbridge would be a good costume too. I’m hoping to see some Anne of Green Gables costumes this year because of the Netflix adaptation of it. I feel like that may kick it back up again this year! My friend was actually an Oompa Loompa this year so I’m stoked to see that too. Basically, long comment short, GREAT LIST.

  2. Hi Kristin! WOW! The pics are the best… people are so inventive when they love a character!! My favorite are the Willy Wonka… probably because I loved that book as a child… Though now I’d dress up as Alice or Katniss!!

Bookish costumes are so fun, I couldn’t help but do them too… Here is my post if you’re interested in my choices <3 https://wp.me/p3LRfZ-6Vt

  3. Ahh, I wish I had seen this a few days ago and I definitely would have used one of these ideas as one of my costumes. I’m going to have to bookmark it for next year. 🙂 Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous post! <3

  4. This was a super cute post!! I wish I was able to do something for Halloween this year but sadly I worked. Oh well! I still get to read all the great Halloween related blog posts!
