Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore– I know that last week I said I planned to read Britt-Marie Was Here but something exciting happened! I was sent my first physical arcs from Raincoast Books! They sent me my most anticipated book of the year- Wild Beauty! They also sent me a couple other books I am excited about, so while I still plan to read Britt-Marie this month, I am making my arcs a priority. Look how beautiful this cover is! I have also read so many great reviews!

Recently Finished-

Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco– This book was soooo good! I was not expecting to love this book as much as I do. I even included Thomas as one of my book boyfriends in my Top Ten Tuesday post yesterday! I will be picking up the sequel, Hunting Prince Dracula, asap! Perfect books for this time of year.

Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng– I don’t know what I expected when I picked up this book, but I definitely wasn’t expecting it to be so heartbreaking and dark.  I had this heavy feeling in my chest the whole time I was reading it.  I am having a hard time sorting out my feelings about this book.  It has definitely messed with me a little bit. I am hoping to write a full review soon, and hopefully I can put my feelings in to words!

The Hanging Girl by Eileen Cook– This is another arc that Raincoast Books sent to me- and it is signed! I have heard a lot of great things about her other book, With Malice, so I am really excited to read this one. Seems like it is going to be a great read for fall!

  1. Cool post!! Everything I Never Told You is wonderful and I loved it so much… got to re-read one of these days. I’m curious about The Hanging Girl and wonder if I should read it! I’m curious to see your thoughts on it! Hopefully I’ll get to Jack the Ripper soon 😀

  2. That’s awesome about your first physical ARC! Congrats! I remember freaking out when my first one arrived! Did you special request these from Raincoat? I’m so curious b/c I’m excited to read Wild Beauty!

      1. Nice! Are you in Canada or did they send Stateside? I need to start doing that more. I’ve just gone through NetGalley/Twitter < which seems crazy, but works!

      2. I am in Canada so I am not sure! There are a lot of publishing houses in the States that send arcs too. I think you just go to their website and find contact us and they usually have an publicity email address!

  3. I really want to read Stalking Jack the Ripper! Also, the cover for Wild Beauty is beautiful! I may just have to pick that one up one day.

  4. Very nice! I’m planning to read Stalking Jack the Ripper sometime this month.

The last book I read was The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo. I’m currently reading An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson, and I do believe my next read is All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater.

      1. I’m like 6 or 7 chapters into An Enchantment of Ravens and I am loving it so far. Since the story is told from Isobel (an artist’s) POV, the descriptions are just beautiful.

  5. “wild beauty” really has a beautiful cover!! 🙂
and i totally get, why “everything i never told you” messed you up a bit!! i really liked it. i loved the writing and the story was heartbreaking!

  6. I totally feel you with Everything I Never Told You! You just used the right words, and I was not sure on what I was expecting either! I read it last year I think, and I was shocked to the core! I was so moved and so sad, and so… thrown to the water HAHA sorry… too soon XD

I am eagerly expecting the review! I hope you could read mine too! :3 Thank you for bringing that book again to my life <3

      1. I am so excited!!! :3 I really liked that book and the review I did hehe <3 let me know what you think :3

I want to read her new book too 🙁

  7. Congratulations on your first physical arcs!! Exciting! I keep hearing about “Stalking Jack the Ripper” and it’s sequel. Normally I hear both good and bad, but so far heard nothing but positives about them both. With most saying the 2nd book is even better. Definitely going to have to get to them at some point.

  8. I read Ng about a year ago and had similar thoughts. One of my husband’s students recommend it to him so I think he’ll read it soon. It will be nice to talk to him about how dark and heavy it was! Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

  9. That cover of Wild Beauty is stunning! Congrats on getting a physical ARC. I hope you will enjoy your books this week and happy reading!
