The Liebster Award

Award

It is always such an honour to be nominated for this award, so thank you so much Eliza from Dusk Angels Reads!

Rules

  1. Answer the questions that were left for you
  2. Nominate your favourite new bloggers (or those with less than 500 followers)
  3. Write 11 questions for them to answer
  4. Follow all of the blogs linked (including mine)!

Eliza’s Questions

1. What book do you own multiple editions of? Or want to?

I own many editions of Jane Austen’s novels.  I really should write a post one of these talking about all the classic editions that I own.  They are just so pretty!

Of course I also own many editions of Harry Potter.  I think that the illustrated editions are my favourite!

2. What reading habits do you hate?

I really do not hate any reading habits.  I mean I don’t dog ear pages, but it doesn’t bother me if other people do! The only think I really do not like is when readers judge other reads for the type of books that they read.  If you read purely classics that is truly amazing, but it does not make you more of a reader than someone who solely reads Young Adult.

3. What is your favourite way to read? Audiobook? eBook? Kindle? Hardcover? Paperback?

Definitely paperbacks! I just love how floppy and easy to read they are! Hardbacks look pretty on the shelf, but are more difficult to read.  I want to get in to audiobooks but I struggle to pay attention to them.  I have a kobo but I rarely use it! I love the convenience of ebooks but they are just not the same.

4. What is your favourite app to buy or borrow books?

My library uses Overdrive and I think it is very convenient.  It also you to borrow ebooks and audiobooks from your own home as long as you have a library card. I wish I used the app more often. This is really the only app that I know of so any suggestion you guys have I would love to hear about them!

5. What is a genre that you will never pick up?

Horror! I am such a baby when it comes to anything remotely scary! I can not think of a single horror movie that I have actually sat the whole way through.  I would love to get in to Stephen King but I am too scared!

6. What is your least favourite book to movie or TV show adaptation?

Image result for the hobbit movie

Wow what a great question! I really had to think about this one! Will anyone kill me if I say The Hobbit?! I really do love the book, but I was so bored watching the movie! I could not wait for it to end! It was not nearly as good as the Lord of the Rings movies.

7. What is your favourite bookish platform that isn’t blogging?

It is so hard to choose! I love Goodreads, bookstagram, and book twitter all for different reasons.  Goodreads is awesome for keeping track of my reading and looking up reviews. Bookstagram is full of gorgeous pictures and I am always inspired by people’s creativity. Book twitter is great for keeping up to date about not only books but on the personal lives of my favourite book bloggers and authors!

8. Who is your favourite most recent blogger you have discovered?

Anatomy of a Book Thief!  Her posts are so creative and I truly enjoy reading everything that she has to say.  I particularly like her Book Lists and her Bookish Ramblings!

9. Do you do anything else while writing blog posts? Watch YouTube? Listening to music or an audiobook?

Image result for flipping out

I try to fit in writing blog posts whenever I can.  Most of the time I have some kind of TV show or Youtube video on in the background.  I can not blog in complete silence! For example, as I am typing this I am watching a Flipping Out marathon! I kind of love Jeff Lewis…

10. What type of blog posts do you love writing?

Honestly? Any type of post!  Tags, discussion posts, awards, TTT- I love it all! I have recently gotten in to creating book aesthetics so I am hoping to start posting more of those.

11. And which type of blog post do you like writing the least?

I guess I would say reviews.  I really do enjoy writing reviews for books that I loved or books I really did not like, but it is the average books that I have a hard time writing about.  I just don’t feel inspired or have much to say when I just think that a book is okay!

  3. Which of your blog posts do wish received a little more attention? (I would love to read it!)
  4. What books do you want to be made in to a movie/tv show?
  5. How have your reading habits changed since you started blogging?

  1. Congratulations✨🎉 wow, you have YouTube going while writing posts?? I’m the opposite! I cannot focus with background noise! 😂 How cool! And your comment about judging other readers depending on the genre is wonderful. I totally agree with you on that one!😊

    1. Thank you! I know! It is so weird. I can not be in complete silence! I even read with background noise. I’m college I had to study with music or tv in the background!

I just love it when I meet people who read and I do not care what kind of books they read!!

  2. I completely get your point on horror, haha! I’m a huge baby myself when it comes to those, but I’m stubborn so try again and again every single time. As such, giving myself sleepless nights as well.
The last time I did that was when I read The Shining by Stephen King; freaked me out! Nevertheless, I still fell completely in love with his writing style so now I have about four of his other novels on my TBR-pile. Looking forward to them in a way, on the other hand.. I’ll have to prepare myself to sleepless nights once again. Especially the moment I decide to start IT, haha.

  3. Thank you so much, you are too kind!! 💛💛Congratulations on the award, I always love reading your blog!! I totally agree about The Hobbit! I love the Lord of the Rings films but I just feel like The Hobbit was way too dragged out, like it would have been way better as two films, rather than a trilogy!

  4. Hi Kristin! Congrats on this award!!

I recently discovered Overdrive, which is a game-changer for me because I have been spending a fortune on audiobooks! It’s especially amazing if the library has a great selection! (Mine does)

I also don’t like writing reviews so much, in that I don’t have a lot to say about the book most of the time. I agree that it is easier to write about books that I ever love a lot or hate haha.

  5. Great answers! I’ve recently gotten really into looking at book aesthetics so I totally would not be mad if you do more of those 😂 And I 100% agree with your comment about judging those for what they read. It’s all about what people enjoy and if they enjoy reading “trashy” romance (aka me) and YA, then don’t offend them and call their books trash!

  6. Congratulations on the nomination for the Liebster Award. So many blogs I’m following have been nominated recently, so it’s awesome to see what questions they answer and then what questions they give to their nominees.

I like having background noise on, whether I’m reading, writing, or blogging. It keeps me more focused than everyday sounds that permeate the silence. And I admit to admiring the creativity of others on Bookstagram too. I feel like my photos pale in comparison.

  7. I loved reading your answers and I could not agree more with you about the Hobbit movies. Like that book was 300 pages, did they really need to stretch it out for 3, almost 3 hour movies? I have yet to watch the Lord of the Rings, but I hear they’re good; I’ve read the books so at least I know the story.
My library uses Overdrive, but that app didn’t work out for me, I downloaded it thinking I would be able to get the book from the library, and it did not download. Instead, for books that say Overdrive from the library, I use (which has been super awesome) Adobe Digital Editions. It’s totally free and I download the book from the library and I can open the file in that program. I was using cloudLibrary before but I found that the Overdrive books don’t open in that, but the 3M Cloud Library books do, apparently my library has two systems, ha!
This comment got to be really long! Oops! 😛

    1. Thank you!

I really did enjoy the Lord of the Rings movies so I think you will like them. They are very long though!!

It is funny how every library is so different. I don’t take advantage of my library enough to know everything that it offers. I really should look in to it!

      I love long comments 😍

      1. You’re welcome!
I’ve heard they are long. I’d have to find the time, but my brother raves about them all the time!
Oh gosh I’m always at my library! Maybe they have the different options too!
        🙂

  8. hehe I love horror, If you do wanna start King I’d suggest Carrie, it’s more gorey then scary think Matilda if she decided to kill the whole town instead of live with a nice teacher and read books X’D Awesome answers Overdrive is one of my faves too.
