I began blogging in May of this year and I have grow to really love it in that short time. I truly believe that starting this blog as been one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I wanted to take this time to gush and rave about everything that I love about book blogging! I hope that you all can relate to this!

I have a place to rant and rave about books! I have very few book lovers in my life and it is so refreshing to have a place where I can share my thoughts about books with people who actually care and are just as passionate.

Book blogging as allowed be to discover books I never would have read in the past. I used to read primarily historical fiction, with the occasional contemporary or fantasy books thrown in. Since I started this blog I have read many books that were outside of my comfort zone, and books that I never would have given a second glance at in the passed. A few examples of this are The Sleeping Giants, Illuminae, and Red Rising- which have become favourite!

I have started to think critically about what I am reading. I never used to analyze or really think about the books I read. These days, I look closer at world building, character development, dialogue, etc.

I have met like minded people. People who understand book hangovers, reading slumps, and fangirling! This has been so refreshing for me, and it is so awesome to find a community of people who I can relate to.

Blogging has caused me to be more productive with my time. I now spend more of my free time writing/reading blog posts, as opposed to binge watching reality TV or playing the Sims. Do not get me wrong, I still do those things, but less often! It feels awesome to feel like my time is being spent doing something more productive while still having fun!
I would love to know the reason that you love to blog! If you relate to anything that I talked about I would to know.

Ever since I started blogging I’ve been taking my reading more seriously. I used to just dump everything into the TBR pile, never make time to read, etc. but now every morning I always make to get in some time for my books. And yep, I’m slowly getting into reading more critically!
It is really nice to have an excuse to make reading a priority. I have definitely read more since I have started!
I blog for all the reasons that you gave and then there’s being able to talk to awesome people I wouldn’t have known if not for blogging 🙂

Why can't there be more bookworms like me in real life – I'd love to meet my internet friends but then OMG THAT WOULD BE SO AWKWARD WELL I'D BE THE AWKWARD ONE BUT WHATEVER.
I literally agree with all of these! Apart from number 3. I hate that now I am more analytical of books. Sometimes (all the time lol) I am reading a book and my thoughts are like 'wow good writing, no world building' BUT I JUST WANT TO ENJOY THE BOOK! Lovely post ❤

I try not to over analyze books as well but it is hard. There are some books that I read knowing that it is going to be just for fun and don’t try to overthink it!

I don’t know if I can agree with the “Blogging helps me be more productive with my time,” because I find myself procrastinating on important things (like the project I have due on Wednesday on Pride & Prejudice) by writing blog posts and staring at other peoples’ blogs!
I started blogging because I’ve had blogs in the past but they were centered around a person (my first one was “Life of an Army Band Girlfriend,” focused on my now-first-ex, which was a terrible idea) or were just dumb, and I wanted something that was uplifting and fun. I’ve always seen book blogs but never thought I could do it. Then one of my friends encouraged me to go ahead and do it, and I had a name-brainstorm session and started out. I’ve gotten more into it in the past few months because I’ve had something I needed to try and get past, so I needed a way to occupy any and all free time I came across. I’m so glad I did, though, and I’ve met some pretty wonderful people and discovered new books I didn’t even know existed.
I can totally see what you mean about being productive! Luckily I am no longer in school but I can for sure see that it would be difficult to find a balance between school work and blogging!

I only have one class (I do tutor 12 students in the mornings though), so it’s not like I’m procrastinating too much, but I still find ways to avoid reading my Austen novels!
Reading just is not as fun when it is required!
I relate to everything you said plus helping authors being better knowned. I think it’s an important reason to my blogging. That and interviewing them too as I’m fascinated with the process of writing 😡

All you said all you said is so true!!! I don’t have a space or people to discuss books besides college, but this is so different. Finding new books is also so true! there are books that I have never seen and finding other people talking about those books help me built up my library… XD

one of my favorite parts of book blogging is DEFINITELY the amazing new book bloggers I’ve gotten to meet through the Interwebs. <3 and I agree, writing all these reviews forces you to think more critically about books outside of English class. you find yourself starting to pay attention to the author's particular writing style, to any problematic elements of the plot, etc. though unfortunately, I continue to procrastinate on my posts and browse the Blogosphere when I'm supposed to be doing other work… #woops 😛
Meeting other book lovers is truly the best part!
It feels good to know that I can think critically about what I read and I actually enjoy doing that!
I am also constantly reading other people’s post. I just love hearing what everyone has to say!

Yes, #1 and #4 for sure! Any readers I know in real life come nowhere close to being as much of a reader as I am. So it’s hard to have gushing or ranting conversations with them because they don’t quite get it. That’s one of the reasons I love this online book community. It’s like having a bunch of friends (who I may never actually meet, sadly) that I can just have wonderful bookish conversations with at all sorts of random hours of the day and night.

I love to blog because I love to find out what other people are reading and doing! I have made such great friends by blogging. We text and sometimes even chat on the phone! It’s really rewarding. I started just after my mom died…and my blog was a comfort to me! I had chemo last year and again my blog was a comforting place to share and get virtual hugs! I needed that.
That is so amazing to hear Patty. I am so happy that blogging has become a safe place for you! It is something that provides me comfort as well. I was not expecting the gain so much from it!
