August was not the best reading month, especially since I was on holiday and thought I would have more time to read. Unfortunately, there were a lot of distractions and reading just was not a priority this month. I was also let down by a couple books this month and it caused me to have a little reading slump! Thankfully, I also read some wonderful books in August that have become all time favourites!

Favourite Books: I’ll Give You the Sun, A Man Called Ove
I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson- My favourite YA book of all time. So beautiful! Jandy Nelson is a masterful writer. I have a full review here.
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman- I have a feeling you will see this book on my favourites list at the end of year! So charming and heartfelt! I have nothing but good things to say about this book.
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah- I liked it but not as much as I thought that I would. It was an interesting story but I didn’t connect to the characters. I posted a review which you can read here.
Uprooted by Naomi Novik- I have mixed feelings! There were some things I really enjoyed about this book but for the most part it wasn’t for me. I was not a fan of the main character or the romance. I did like the concept and thought it had a lot of potential.
Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy- I really enjoyed this book! I thought it was funny and charming. I am really excited to see the movie! It definitely helped me out of a reading slump! I am hoping to post a review very soon.

I agree with you about Uprooted. It was an okay book and had a lot going for it, but I was not a fan of the romance at all!

A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman loved this book so much!! It’s on my favorite list as well. And I loved the historical aspect of The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah I didn’t know that nightingales even existed so that was a wonderful side product from reading it – but it’s not a book I would recommend. 🙁
Ove is such a special book! I am glad you agree with me about The Nightingale. I enjoyed it but not enough I recommend it to everyone.. It was too long as well!
I’ll give you the sun is a book that will should all read while eating candy and under the sun with some lemonade… I don’t know why but it makes me feel like that xD great book indeed!!

I also read A Man Called Ove this month and absolutely loved it! I loved that it talked about deep things, but with a light tone. I give major props to any book that manages to make me laugh out loud and cry my eyes out.

I also read Uprooted this month and agree with you it had a great premise but overall it fell short of my expectations. I also did not enjoy the romance.

They are both really great! Dynamic and memorable characters in both books!

The romance in Uprooted is definitely unconvincing… but I loved it nonetheless!

I recommend giving them all a chance because even the ones I didn’t love a lot of people really did like!!

I haven’t ready ANY of these 😭. I started a Man Called Ove on audio and then had to return the audiobook because I couldn’t finish it on time. Sigh. I really should get to it soon. Great reading month!

I really loved Uprooted — I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator was fantastic.
I am trying to get in to audiobooks! I wonder if I would like it better on audiobook!
I read “A Man Called Ove” recently, too. I have “The Nightingale” on my shelf, waiting to be read. I’ll see what you mean soon about connecting to the characters!
Yes connecting to characters is the most important thing to me!
