Currently Reading-22544764

Uprooted by Naomi Novik- To be honest I was struggling to connect to the characters and the story for the first 100 pages but then something changed for me and I am really enjoying it immensely!

Just Finished-21853621

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah- This book has been on my TBR for a long time now and I am so glad that I finally got around to reading it! I really did enjoy the story and the characters, however, I have read a lot of WWII novels and this one just did not live up to some of my favourites. I will post a review soon!

Reading Next-18304322

Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy- It is being made in to a movie so obviously I have to read the book first! It sounds cute and hilarious so I am really looking forward to it.

Have you read any of these books? I would love to know your thoughts!! Happy reading everyone!

  1. Glad to see you’re enjoying Uprooted. I’ve been going back and forth for like a year now on if I want to read it or not, lol. I LOVE DUMPLIN’ SO MUCH! I’m pretty sure I read it in a day, it was so good and hard to put down. I am impatiently waiting for the sequel, which doesn’t come out until next year ahhh!

    1. I will post the synopsis for you so you get an idea!

Self-proclaimed fat girl Willowdean Dickson (dubbed “Dumplin’” by her former beauty queen mom) has always been at home in her own skin. Her thoughts on having the ultimate bikini body? Put a bikini on your body. With her all-American beauty best friend, Ellen, by her side, things have always worked…until Will takes a job at Harpy’s, the local fast-food joint. There she meets Private School Bo, a hot former jock. Will isn’t surprised to find herself attracted to Bo. But she is surprised when he seems to like her back.

Instead of finding new heights of self-assurance in her relationship with Bo, Will starts to doubt herself. So she sets out to take back her confidence by doing the most horrifying thing she can imagine: entering the Miss Clover City beauty pageant—along with several other unlikely candidates—to show the world that she deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does. Along the way, she’ll shock the hell out of Clover City—and maybe herself most of all.

  2. I loved Uprooted, it’s one of my favorite fantasy books of the year! However, I didn’t enjoy Dumplin’ at all and I had a lot of problems with it. I hooe you enjoy it, though.

  3. I’m Polish so I wanted to read Uprooted for the longest time but also my mother’s name is Agnieszka & it just………. seems to weird to have a character share her name lmao idk if I can do this.

      1. I must try that! I don’t wanna miss out on like the only fantasy novel w polish setting just bc of this??? In any case! I’m really glad tho that the names the author chose are actually, you know, common & used everyday here.

  4. I’ve heard such great things about all of these! I’ve been wanting to read The Nightingale for a long time, mostly because the title intrigues me, haha xD.
This is such a fun meme! I’ll have to try it sometime.

  5. Oh Dumplin is really good!! I’m really excited it’s being made into a movie too, because I think it’ll be really perfect with all the fashion pageants at the end as a film. Like Miss Congeniality!😂
