Top Ten Tuesday- Ten Science Fiction Books I Recently Added to My TBR

TopTen Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a fun meme that was created over at The Broke and the Bookish! This weeks topic is 10 Books From X Genre That I’ve Recently Added To My TBR List! I never used to be in to science fiction but Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel was a game changer for me! I have recently gotten in to the genre, so there are so many books that I have to read! If you have any suggestions that you don’t see on this list please let me know!

  3. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick– I have been hearing about this book for years but I wrote it off because I didn’t think I was in to SciFi.  Now that I am all about SciFi I know I will probably love this!

  1. Lots of good ones here! I’ve only read The 5th Wave from the series but am eager to continue. I think the not so good reviews for the rest of the books that you mentioned are what has been keeping me back. Illuminae is so good once you get used to the format. I still need to read the sequel though! Definitely read These Broken Stars!

    1. Oh yay! I haven’t heard too much about These Broken Stars so it’s good to know that you recommend it! Thanks Sara! 😊

  2. These are all such good books !! I personally love sci-fi but after a while you kind of read all of the good books??? But these all look amazing and I really want to read them (especially illuminae….) And I actually have read the Across the Universe trilogy and I really enjoyed it !! There were a couple things that kind of bothered me but overall I thought they were a good read

    1. Oh good! I have heard mixed things about Across the Universe but I have been eyeing them for so long that I finally decided that this is the year I am going to read them!… Hopefully!

  3. Many of these are on my TBR as well. I need to read the final 5th Wave book, the final Fault in Our Stars, and I need to start Illuminae! So many books never enough time! My Top Ten

    1. Thank you! I hope to get around to reading The Invisible Man as well! I never realized just how many great SciFi novels are out there!!

    1. Is it bad I hadn’t realized that it was SciFi? I’ve heard a lot about Pierce Brown but I never really looked in to what his books are about! Adding to my TBR on Goodreads asap! Thank you!

      1. Red Rising is so good! I literally came down here to say that too! I love that it’s dystopian/fantasy but still very sci-fi

      2. That’s it! I am fully convinced! I think I am going read try to read Red Rising this month! I will definitely let you guys know what I think!

  4. SO MANY GREAT BOOKS on your list ❤
    Illuminae/Gemina are amazing reads!
The Starbound series is also great! Though book 3 is my favorite of the series!
The 5th Wave series is another one of my favorite series! I know a lot of people hated books 2 and 3 but I thought the whole series was a 5 star series and it owns a piece of my soul.
    Enjoy and happy reading!
Also Kristen … as mentioned above GIRL YOU HAVE TO TRY RED RISING! It is top 5 all time favorite series for me!!! SO GOOD!

    1. Glad to hear you loved the whole 5th Wave series. That makes me want to read it even more!

You guys have convinced me that I really really need to read Red Rising so I am going to read it this month!! I will let you know what I thought!

      1. YES! Oh I hope you enjoy it Kristin! If you don’t love book 1 of RR (I can see where some people had issues with it) … please give book 2 a try because it gets CRAZY good!

  5. Most of these are on my TBR, too. The only one I’ve actually read is The Diabolic and I absolutely adored it! I flew through it. I bought Defy the Stars soon after it released and I’m hoping I’ll get to it soon because I’ve read and loved Claudia Gray in the past. Great choices!!

  6. Great list! I don’t really read a lot of science fiction, but I have been wanting to read Illuminae for some time now. Maybe that one would b MY game changer! I’ve also thought for years that Across the Universe sounds really interesting, but I still haven’t picked it up. I hope you enjoy all of these!

    My TTT!

    1. I have avoided the genre for a long time but now it might be in my top 3 favourite genres? Never thought that would be the case! I hope you read and love Illuminae! ❤︎

  7. I just recently added Illuminae to my TBR as well! The only one on your list that I’ve read was The Martian, and I didn’t really enjoy it! The story was fine, but the writing style just didn’t really do it for me. I know I seem to be in a minority, though. 🙂

  8. Ahhh such a lovely list!! 😊 I have Illuminae on my TBR as well, I had picked it up once but never finished so I definitely want to get back to it! Defy the Stars sounds so amazing as well. 😍

      1. Awww thank you so much Kristin!! 😊❤ Oh yes Defy the Stars seems so good! Have you read the author’s previous Firebird series? You might like that one as well. 😄

    1. I haven’t read it yet but I bought it recently! I completely forgot about it! Thanks for reminding me! 😊 I’ve heard so many great things about it!

  9. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is hilarious. I read it literally YEARS ago. The Time Machine is also really cool. And I would recommend A Clockwork Orange as well. It’s more of a social commentary about forceful rehabilitation. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is also one of the best ones. Hope you enjoy.

    1. Wow so happy to hear they are all good! I’ve heard great things about Clockwork Orange. Definitely adding it to my TBR! Thank you!

  10. Great list! I loved The Martian and These Broken Stars. I really need to add more science fiction to my repertoire as well. I think I’ll start by adding a few you’ve listed here! Thanks for the inspiration! 🙂 -Sam

  11. Wow I have such a similar reading list to yours! Illuminae and Gemina are fabulous, I loved them. I have heard similar things about The 5th Wave. I’ve read them all and definitely think the first one is my favorite. I haven’t read Defy the Stars yet so thank you for showing it to me!
